Normal sized barrel for Walther P22 available?

I'm in the market to pick up a Walther P22 but I really dislike the longer barrel and attachment at the end of the pistol. If I purchased one of these suckers would I be able to take the end thingie off and also buy a normal sized P22 barrel? (so it'd look like a P99) Are the regular sized barrels illegal in Canada or something? Why wouldn't they sell normal ones here?

The "Normal" length for the stock P22 is 3.4" long -- Prohibited. We get the "Target Model" up here at 5.0"

I don't really care for the gun myself -- too light for target work, the trigger is heavy, the grip is too small for my hands, and I've seen two where the slides were worn to point of being unsafe.
