North American Indigenous Games
The small bore shooting event needs specialized volunteers to help with scoring and range control. While the games run from August 3 to 10, the shooting event is slated for August 6, 7 & 8 at the Cowichan Fish & Game Club near Duncan. There will be about 80 athletes in 4 relays, shooting 60 shots per day. That is 4800 shots that need to be scored each day.
At the Games, we will need 3,000 volunteers to help us deliver a successful and memorable event. This is the first time a collective effort of such magnitude will occur in the Cowichan Valley between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples. We want to give the estimated 20,000 combined participants and visitors from all over Canada and the U.S. a true Warm Land welcome.
With such a large influx of visitors to the valley accommodations are nonexistent. However self-contained camping at the range is being offered to volunteers for the shooting event. The games are a drug and alcohol free event.
More information about the games can be found on the web site: http://www.cowichan2008.com
