Just got this in the mail today.

First impressions:

- Light and compact. Probably less than half the weight of the Dlask/Infratek rail. Sight picture is wide open with no optic installed, unlike the Infratek.

- Easy install. It required a bit of persuasion from a small rubber mallet to seat, but does not require monkeying around with set screws to set it properly. The push pin is brass.

- Push pin is a nice solid fit. No noticeable movement of the rail when installed.

- Sights are first visible through Aimpoint Comp M2/Leupold QRW low ring at 300m setting. Usable with a 400m setting. With Burris FastFire the sights become visible at 400m setting and truly usable at 500m setting. Both give you a "bottom 1/5" co-witness. An Aimpoint Micro would be perfect.

I hope to hit the range tonight to test out how it holds and repeats zero when re-installed.

It's available at CGN sponsors GP Tactical and Wolverine Supplies.

Looks very nice. Man, Every time I see a nice hand guard rail like this I almost want to get one instead of a side rail.

Does it do well with retaining zero?

How much?
Looks low enough to do some good target work!
I guess a small cheekpad would be sufficient.
PP. :)

I believe it will retail at Wolverine for $145ish

BTW, we are bringing out a similar style one piece hand guard for the SKS. It should be hitting retailers by Oct. Same principals, low profile, hold zero, no wobble............... and machining quality that is second to none.

Doh! i didn't know GP Tactical had them....

My sales slip from Wolverine says $165

Yeah fits good on the CZ, have my burris on it right now, but i agree with Stevo, this rail is begging for a Aimpoint Micro.

100% made in Canada.............. if ontario still counts as Canada.

Looks very good.
I'm quite tempted. I wonder which of the extra-low mounting reflex sights would fit the best?
Is it anodized? Could it be finished in non-reflective matte?
I guess it could be painted in "Bluke" later on.
PP.

I didn't have a chance to test it tonight for zero repeatability. It was pissing down rain and we had a couple of IDPA shooters to run through the classifier.

I don't know #### about metal finishes, but it's no more reflective than the Infratek one. I believe that it is anodized. I kinda like the gold pin, it adds some bling. :)

Aimpoint Micro would be the best quality way to go PP. It looks to me like the Bushnell TRS-25 should fit the same as the Micro. It's a lot cheaper but I haven't been able to find out any real info on it's reliability or toughness.

Mostly.

Looks pretty good man. Any way you could get a picture viewing the gun as a whole? It would give a better idea of what it looks like, to me at least.

edit to add, what about the bottom rail? Is that not out yet? If it is, I would love to see how they look together.

  • Robust
  • Cheap enough to buy the rifles according to the rule of twos
  • A viable non-restricted model
  • Still enough money left over after purchase to afford ammunition by the 5000 count
  • and companies (God bless them) now making accessory parts for them here in Canada

I used to ask "why buy a Vz."

I think the more important question today is "why not?"

Good stuff Stevo. Thanks for the pictures.

Let us know when your repeated zero tests are completed. Would also like to know if vertical stringing is any issue on the mount due to heating?

Will do.

Once again I went to the range to shoot it today, but ended up clearing brush and garbage this time.:(
