been working out some loads with the 55gr Nosler Varmageddon to use for coyotes.Im using a R.A. XCR 1/9 with blc-2 powder.Anybody loading these bullets. How are they working for others? Please let me know how they worked for you.

Are you talking about the green tipped zombie bullets? I used these bullets during my gopher trip this year, 23.5 gr of WC735. Made pink smoke out to 250ish meters with a 20" 1/9 Rem 700 SPS tac.

My lot seemed to vary somewhat in weight, I haven't compared them to the V-Max which has the same ballistic coefficient, but at 75% of the price of V-Max bullets the accuracy isn't that bad.

So this what Im getting useing BLC-{2} 26gr 55gr Nosler Varmageddon.Group is ok about 1" at 100yrds.A 5shot strings average is 2776 fps.About +6 out with zero wind value.

I have tested the 55gr Nosler Balistic tips in a custom 30" barrel
Aboslute devistating load for Varmints in a 223
here is info from Hogdons web site for 55gr in 223 remington
I used a long drop tube
Hodgdon Varget .224" 27.5C gr 3384 49,700 CUP.
I chronyed this load in my rifle at 3460fps and shot a five shot group at 300 yards 1.27" These Nosler shoot better than any other hunting bullets I have tried. not as tight groups as the Berger Match 80gr but still good for hunting round.
I also use VT 540 was faster than Varget load but accuracy fell off

My happy load for my 223 is 26gr of Benchmark under a 53 gr Vmax. it shoots under and inch at 100 and comes out of the barrel at 3250fps(my chrony). I've taken a few yotes with it so far. The bullet is a clean killer, but it seems to hold together a bit better than some other varmint bullets. I've been playing around with 50gr Barnes Varmint Grenades and am unimpressed so far in terms of accuracy. The Varmagedon looks like a good option if you want more explosive expantion as the base of the bullet is thinner than the Vmax or the Ballistic tip.

I would like to hear what kind of terminal performance you get with the Varmagedon.

Seems a bit on the slow side. Did you try loading them right up. I would think you could get 3200 out of those. Maybe my chrono is on the optomistic side!

Hey g-man ,my pet bullet, is the Nosler Ballistic tip but I thought I'd try them,ya know something mite be better.I want to try some Benchmark but dont have any yet.I was out today tried some hotter loads.28gr shot well. .75" all cutting the rim of the next with a ave.3103fps .I would like to get 3200fps. out of it as well.I got a Leupold Mark AR 3x9 and it comes with turrets for 55gr bullet at 3200fps.I'll play with some powders and see if I can find it ,if not I'll just get new turrets.Im not really worried about saving hides.I just want them good and dead the first round :)

Manitou.Ive read about the VT 540 but if it dont shoot tite I'm not into it.I 'm working up slowly and watching for presure signs as Im shooting semmi auto with a shorter barrel .dont need a bolt in the face.30" barrel you will get some extra fps.with that. Thanks for the reply.

Funny. I started with BlC2 and went to Benchmark. BLC2 is temp sensitive (how much`I dont know) Benchmark just seems to work better for me. I get good groups at 3200 fps and it has proven to be deadly round.

This summer I found that 26gr of BL-C 2 shot well.It was in the mid 20's.Tried it again when it was +6 and it didnt shoot well at all.I thought it was me so I tried it again with the same poor group. ? What kind of gun are you shooting your .223 rounds from? Going to try a powder thats not weather sensitive.

An Axis with an after market trigger. Bought it on a lark. Seemed to shoot good, but terrible trigger. Put the Rifle Basix trigger on it and havent looked back. I too had found a good load with BLC2, but seemed to be tempermental. Can't say for sure it was the powder as I made a few minor changes to the gun also. All I know it works well now so I'm leaving well enough alone untill I get my coyote problem licked (probably never!). tried some 50gr Varmint Grenades with BLC2 on Sunday. I shot 3 groups 6 and 7 shots each. All where about 1.5" I will continue to try BLC here and there untill it's gone. Heard of lots of guys having good luck with it just not me (yet). I found my velocities tend to be more erratic with BLC. I use standard small rifle primers and may try using magnum as recomended by my speers manual. Maybe that's the fix??

The Axis ,I was looking at them in 22-250 but Didnt buy one.I have list of guns I need but I have to spend some time in the bunker to catch up on the reloading end of things before the move on.The count is up to eight this summer.I looked at your location when you mentioned the coyote problem.Pm me if ya want with where your from.Ya I got a pound of it ,Ill shoot it but Im moving on to a powder that can handle the weather change.the way its been bouncing around the last few days
