I had a very good friend give me thousands of dollars of reloading components from his father's estate. Included in the lot were 500 6mm Nosler 85gr solid base boat tail spitzer bullets all from the same lot. I started a bit of load development with them this week in one of my Cooper 6mm Rem. The first couple loads of IMR 4831 I tried had no problem grouping 1/2" or less at 100 yds and I still have quite a bit to tinker with yet if I choose to.
I'm just wondering if anybody has used these bullets for hunting and what kind of results you had with them. I know for sure I will shoot a deer with them this year and just wondering what to expect. Thanks for looking, B-78.

They will expand like a Nosler Ballistic tips great deer bullet.
The solid base is the same Jacket/core as the ballistic tip, without the tip.

Thanks for the reply guys. I settled on a load of 47grs of IMR 4831 as it shot to the exact POI as the other load of Superfomance and a 80gr TTSX that I have worked on for this rifle.
I was a bit disappointed in the TTSX last year when I shot a very nice 5X6 WT buck quartering towards me. First shot hit the right lung and then he turned and the second shot hit the left lung. The deer still managed to cover 150yds of pasture before he expired at the edge of the bush 30yds from my blind. I have made the same shot from that blind on other deer with a lot less expensive bullets with way better results. Hoping this 85gr nosler will work well this year otherwise I will probably go back to the 100gr BTSPIL that I have used in the past. I will give the TTSX one more chance as well but I will wait until the deer gets closer so I can take a more broadside shot to see if it makes a difference. Just hope it doesn't travel that far as the bush is pretty thick and it could be a real job to drag a deer out of it by hand.
