I'm was quite pleased with the bullet performance on a 300 pound mule deer buck. The impact velocity was probably around 3,400 fps. Upon entry, it broke through a rib and then continued on the opposite side, broke another rib, went through the shoulder, then rested under the hide. I recovered what was left of the bullet where it weighed-in at 36 grains. The deer ran only 35 yards and then died instantly, which is a common performance from Nosler.

I have a 257 Weatherby that will come deer hunting with me this weekend.
115 Partition at 3350 is the load I am using. Shoots itty, bitty groups in my
Vanguard, and I know the Partition will work at long or short range, and at
any sane angle. Dave.

I've never had a .240 Wby - it's on the list though. Looks like a very large entry wound - can't argue with the result of a dead deer, but I think I'd stick with Partitions. In fact, I will be loading up some 95gr Partitions for a .243 this afternoon.

Partitions are a better bullet than the Accubonds when it comes to controlled expansion, penetration and not causing so much blood-shot. Purpose for the Accubonds: just in case there is that 500 yard shot.(Great Plains) It's flatter shooting, more accurate and still has devastating effects.

Impressive bullet performance. Congratulations on a successful hunt. What about pictures of your deer with head and hide intact?

This year I applied for a different WMU Zone to explore new territory. During preseason scouting I noticed a lot of irregularities with antler growth. On opening day I passed-up on this buck at 150 yards, hence I was after a bigger buck. During the second day of the hunt my son and I had a serious discussion to cease the life of this buck because of inferior antler growth. He has passed-on to much of his bad genes. We called him the "Management Buck."............. my way of conservation. https://imgur.com/a/m8Eg5JO

I use the 90gr accubond in my 243 win. but muzzle velocity is 3200fps and they work great at those speeds when recovered from game 67% or more weight retention from what I find. nice job on that deer.

My 240 Wby. is custom with a 27" barrel, muzzle velocity is 3,530 fps. The bullet would of probably had more weight retention if I had shot him at 350 yards (when I first spotted him), however I used the lay of the land and stalked him at 75 yards. Impact velocity was probably at 3,400 fps. The Accubond did what I wanted to do, a humane kill.

That bullet was moving, it did well at that speed. I love the accuracy of those accubonds. Good job.

My son and I only use Nosler bullets, most are Accubonds. Prior to the Accubonds, we had great success with the ballistic-tips, DRT, however the Accubonds are a better bullet.
