Nosler Ballistic tipped .308 ok to hunt deer with ?

IF you shoot meat or a bone with meat on it you have pretty much lost that meat. The bullet you choose to shoot out of your 308 is not going to change that.

For what it is worth I use 165g hornady boat tails out of my 308 for deer and they work just as good as anything at the range (close) I shoot. I have fooled around with 150g ballistic tips and would recommend using 165's ballistic tips if you want to penetrate 2/3 of a deer (1/4ing type shot). The 150's are not guaranteed to it do it from what I have seen so far, even out of a 308.

They are the only Nosler bullet I have tried that I had no use for. For whatever reason, my M-700 .30-06 would not shoot them accurately and I tried a bunch of powders.

The Hornady BTSP IL is a better bullet IMHO, since their terminal performance is just as good, they are (also) very accurate... most people rave about the accuracy of the Nosler Ballistic Tip... and they cost half as much.

I will say the Nosler BT is one ###y looking bullet. I think most guys love 'em.
