So I tried out some .308 168 grain E-tips, and they were the worst shooting bullets in my test. Has anybody had any good accuracy results with them, or are they a total waste? The gun was a .300 RUM, in case you were wondering.

I have shot e-tips in my 300 rum with great results. They are all I have used in it for the last 3 yrs.
Try IMR 4350 Fed GM215m Primer.

Another Nosler bullet that's supposedly good is the Ballistic Tip. I tried them in my M700 .30-06, and there was no combination of powders, velocities that I tried, that would give me any accuracy with those bullets. Yet they're supposed to be a super-accurate bullet. Yet I can shoot 5-shot groups that hover right at 1", with Plain-Jane Hornady BTSPs.

It's just that your rifle does not like this particular bullet and nor do I. I tried monolithic bullets (barnes) one year, point of impact was tight behind the front leg and the deer ran over 500 yards before falling over dead. Good thing there was good snow on the ground, otherwise I might not have found him. Three days later my son shot a deer and it ran 200 yards before expiring. I have also spoken with veteran hunters who echo my same words. I love Nosler bullets, but not this one.......................small entrance/exit wounds and wound chanel.

At one time my go to big game bullet was the Nosler Partition, and I did have game run over 200 yards after putting a Partition through both lungs. On the other hand, game shot with the Nosler Ballistic Tip, usually dropped on the spot, or with a few steps, but there was usually a lot of blood shot meat. Since I switched to the TSX,and now to the TTSX, the animals are expiring almost as quickly as with Ballistic Tip, but with much less blood shot meat. As well, penetration is much better on larger game, when heavy bone is struck. I find the key with the Barnes bullets, is high enough impact velocity, but with my 7mmSTW driving the 140gr TTSX at 3500fps, or the 150gr TTSX at 3400fps, that isn't an issue. The only people that I know that are having issues with the monometal bullets are using heavy for caliber bullets, and the impact velocities are not adequate to expand these bullets properly. As for accuracy, I have yet to encounter a rifle that I can't get satisfactory accuracy out of with the TTSX. They are more fussy as to seating depth than some bullets, but it's just a matter of doing some load development.

However, The limited experience that I have with the E-Tips, indicates that they can't be driven to the same velocity as the grooved monometals, without pressure signs appearing, and accuracy seems to be inconsistent.

Some rifles are very picky for some reason. I have a Savage, absolutely detests the V-Max, but shoots the Noslers incredibly well. Opposite with my Remington 700. Shoots the V-Max incredibly well and the Nosler consistently not so much. Go figure. These are with the same powder, primer and weight.

Ya some rifles don't shoot well with a particular bullet for some reason. Gives you a chance to try other combos which i do all the time. New bullets and powders gives my wife fits cause i go on a buying streak. Most Nosler bullets have worked good for me.

I have tried e-tips in a few rifles. I find the accuracy to range between poor and VERY poor. I get good results with GMX and TSX in many rifles but the Nosler E-tip isn't as good as those in experiences. They also aren't anywhere near as accurate as the B-tip or A-bond.

Worst of all, I hit pressure signs WAY earlier than any other bullet with the E-tip. Much lower velocities than other bullets.
