so I got my first samples in the mail late last week......first impressions are that they are damn ###y....that meplate could not possibly get any smaller.
I got 2 flavors to play with, the 105 grain 6mm and the 70 grain .224, of which they both share the same ###iness

so far the base to ogive measurements are very close, as is the overall length, while sorting them it seamed pointless but then there it was....a very short bullet that didn't fit in the group at all....so guess what...they are just like Berger in regards to every box holding a surprise waiting to be found, so yet again a near perfect quality match bullet that still needs to be sorted for the holy grail group searchers....

t much snow to play with the 6mm at distance so that will wait, loaded 80 of the .224's up over H322 and will test them today, general findings down south is that they either shoot or they don't so it boils down to rifle versus rifle, with that said it seams that bullet seating depth is all over the map with some claiming the longer the jump the better the accuracy....I didn't know where to start...so 5 thou jump it is.

The bearing surface is shorter, so when seating to the ogive the base of the bullet is farther up the neck, to achieve the same velocity of a competitors bullet it is said that a extra 0.3 grains of powder was required...well since I have no other data to compare my .233 to that won't matter today, but when the 6br gets to test them I will run the crony to see what the barrel says.....

soooo...........who else has their grubby little fingers on these babies so far???

looking like the .224 is going to require a magnum primer with the H322.....I got the typcaly split group tell tale sign and my load had a ES of under 20 FPS on that group....will know tomorrow

What are these bullets replacing?

I use CCI mag primers in all my loads. Aint H322 on the fastish side of the powder spectrum for the 70's?

Thought I would add some pics to this thread

I was reading over at snipershide and the guys testing the 6mm said that the G7 was more like .290. Cant wait to get some downrange.

And a little comparison to some other bullets (cell pics)

well they are on par with hybrids at 600 meters, and the groups are asking for a bit more powder. going to try 2 more loads at .3 and .6 up and over my base line to see if things shrink. If they'll run with the Bergers at 20% less money I think these could be a game changer of sorts

I shot both of mine on thursday as well.

the 70's shot better for me, but this was only the first time out with em. Still got a couple more rounds (pun intended) of shooting to go with them.

Did you play around with seating depth yet? What did you find?

I start everything with a 10 thou jump and work out from there. Ive read a bunch like a 30-50 jump

4-8 thou jump........just like a hybrid

single shot actions so mag length does not exist in my world

Cool thanks. Good to know

For targets I dont mind loading mine up one at a time. :)

Might be heading back out tomorrow for some shooting

Yeah it could go in either one of them places too. I load these for myself and a couple competitions, so you can say its on the right place. :)

I am running a 30 inch 8 twist barrel, lapua brass, magnum cci primer and varget......hit me with your load.....see how close we are

Tomorrow Ill be running 25.4, 25.5 and 25.6 varget with LC brass and CCI450's. Its all in a Shilen 9tw 24" in 223. Im thinking of maybe down the road of trying a JC custom 30" 6.5tw and trying out the 90vlds.
And 42.5, 42.6 and 42.7 H4831sc with PPU brass and CCI250's. In a shilen 8tw 243.

It "started" out as mainly a coyote rifle but I kept finding that they always hung out later in the season, so I started getting into reaching out there myself. :)

Hopefully the magnetto says some good things for me tomorrow. heh

Looks like is going to be 25.5 for the 223.

Loaded some more up and going to zero my rifle next time out. Made up some hasty JBM tables so Ill have to check it how they work out down range.
