Nos's 2nd birthday goose hunt WITH his brother!

Hey Guys;

So, my Drahthaar "Nos" turned two today. His brother Nero is visiting & we decided to hit a cornfield in layout blinds to celebrate.

Early in the morning, BEFORE first shot the geese got up off the river roost & LEFT THE COUNTRY!!! We were a little shocked as we'd never seen the birds up & gone this early!

So... We waited & about 1.5 hours in, the birds started coming back... By 10:50 in the morning, we had a 3 man limit of 15 geese & one duck!!! What a great way to celebrate my dogs birthday. Nos is really developing into a great hunting partner!

P.S. We even saw snow geese, bu they were not interested in our Canada's spread... Seems the snows are expanding their range! Hunt was in Prescott Russell Ontario.
P.P.S. And... Seeing as how boys will be boys, AFTER the hunt, Nos & Nero actually got into a FIGHT! Had to bust their chops a bit & put them back in line!

Great job on the honkers. What a field to stubble the blinds in! Talk about get hidden, WOW!!

Ya, it was a great hunt! The farmer doesn't always plow under the fields, be they corn or bean. Leaves lots of stuff to hide under! The layout blinds are awesome! My dog is getting used to coming in & laying behind my back with his head on my left shoulder. He stays put till we say TAKE EM! And then he pops out & starts chasing cripples & retrieving the dead ones. Nos also made a spectacular MORE than 500 meter retrieve on one cripple. Really proud of him & his brother EXCEPT for the fight after the hunt, boys will be boys!
