Not a good experience at galt sportsmen club

Tonight 2 of my friends and I went to Galt Sportsmen club and basically got kicked out by the executive for taking too long on the skeet stations.

The gentleman running the place was rude and acted like it was the fast food chain for skeet shooting.

I was a former member of this club and came back as guest to use the facilities to practice up for the hunting season. The pistol guys are great I am not saying its a bad place maybe just caught the guy on a bad night????
 
I do hope to go back and shoot sporting again, I hope I just got stuck with a set of bad guys and they're not all like this. But they also charge 50 bucks to shoot which is awful, and then the attitude too. I hope if I go again I have a better experiance.

I have had similar troube at Galt very rude, and seems like they don't want nonmembers shooting. I will mention to our DU excutive that in the furture any money raising shoot held at Galt I will not attend and why .
You reep what you sow Galt , I think it is harvest time.

Shooting Clubs are much like golf and country clubs and such. A couple elitist snobs that think they're gods in their little micro culture ruin it for many and scare future members away. No wonder recruitment of new members is falling off as the membership ages and drops off. In fact, IMO many trap and skeet clubs are scrambling for new blood and are in financial trouble because of this.

Further, blaming this on "Fudds" is IMO a misdirected comment. Lot's of decent middle aged and older folks at gun clubs that have a wealth of information and are happy to share. Being a guest and calling some jacka$$ snob a "douche bag" in front of others will only make you look like the same. The truth is most others involved in clubs know of these persons and their ways.

Bingo! Let the guys who run the Delta shoot know this as well.
 
I really hate it when I show up at a club and get ignored. I never go back. It got so bad at the Winnipeg Trap and Skeet Club, this is several years ago, that the directors appointed members who would approach strangers and introduce them around, buy coffee and explain the different types of shooting available and offer to find a member who would coach the new guys. That's how you recruit and keep members.
Some older club members just did not get it.
 
I realize that everyone new to a club is going to have to find where they fit in. But no club should allow members to be rude or out of line with non members. It reflects badly on the club in general.
At our club it would dealt with in a big hurry.
The future of this sport is new shooters, they should be welcome.
 
Yes but the kicker is, it's not just members your shooting with. The cashier and registration person. (somtimes same guy) they can be a pc of work too. So it runs throught the club I belive executives, directors and members of this club need a new look on attitude. Galt if I remember right is 200 acres give or take. All auto shooters and very expensive to run. No new ppl will equal no $ to pay bills. Beautiful course, but a shame that it's run by a bunch of donkeys.
 
To bad you're a fairly far drive from blenheim. I'm one of 5 volunteer members that run skeet and 5stand at rondeau rod n gun club. Its very laid back. Great group of regular guys and everyone is very friendly and helpful. Non members and member both pay $4 a round for skeet $6 for 5stand. We ask that you pick up your own empty hulls and be safe. Anyone is welcome to join. We shoot skeet every sunday 11;30-3pm. 5 stand every other week 1pm-3pm
 
I live less then 1km from Galt and I shoot at bridgeport rod and gun. Went to galt once and i won't likely be back.

If you wanna come out to Bridgeport I can show you around we shoot trap on Thursday Night about 5pm on.
 
Not saying anything to this type of person (especially in front of peers) will only encourage poor behaviour.

A douchebag works hard for the title and should be justly rewarded.

Nobody goes to a range to be bullied and bullies don't belong around firearms.
 
Check out Otter Valley Rod & Gun Club. We are not all that far from you. I help look after the Sporting Clays Course there. We are a small club with 10 sporting clay stations set up and would love to have you come and shoot with us. I think you would call our course a "Hunters" course as most shots are fairly close. WE shoot the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of every month unless there is a registered shoot or the Cowboy Action has something going. Sign in is usually from 8:30am until just after 9:00am or so and then all squads go out to shoot and we are usually on our way home by 12:30 - 1:00. I would be glad to have you join us and shoot with me. Check us out at
