Yes another one.

But, this one is for the location of retailers that sell and distribute the 7mmo8 - particularly in the Winchester Featherlight model. Im only familiar with the ones in Ontario and they are very few and far between. Its seems it's becoming increasing difficult to find this caliber in the Winchester model 70.

If any of you western province guys/gals (or eastern province) have any info on any of your favorite retailers that ship or distribute this caliber, i would appreciate any info or help.

I do have a thread in the EE forums as well, but i though i would put a flag in here as not everyone peruses the EE forums.

Thanks for any assistance.

The m70 fw is very nice. I have one in 30-06 and another in 270 coming. Wholesale sports in Saskatoon here had one. Not sure if they still do though. That is the only place I have seen one recently.

a bit cheaper (like almost half the price), you can get a 7mm-08 in the Savage Lightweight Hunter...a 5.5lb rifle for the short action cartridges (also comes as .243 and .308).

I haven't seen a bad review of the model yet...everyone has only good things to say about it, for what it's accomplished for $800 in a market that's generally twice that price!

The m70 is also a short action. Also its $799 for the featherweight. You can get them for $750 if you look around. Bonus' are its not a savage, wood stock, crf. Best quality gun for under $1000 easy. Everything else I have looked at from savage, browning, tika, are all very cheap feeling. The metal feels like its made out of tin not steel on those other brands as well. If I couldnt get a m70 I would heavily lean towards a cv 550 or ruger m77.

I handled and shot a lightweight hunter. The one I shot was in 6.5 creedmoor and recoil was more then my 30-06, the action was very rough and the bolt was sticky. THe stock was to short for me as well. The one I handled in the store was a 7-08 it felt exactly like the one that I shot. Not worth the price tag at all.

I was about to write the same post... Then I saw this... So what he said x2.

FWT M70 from FN Winchester IMHO is the best rifle you can buy under a grand.
Be sure to take a look at a few, some of the walnut is nicer then standard.

Exactly. I could see buying a lesser rifle if they were half the price of what the m70 sells for.
