So I couldn't be happier with the new toy. Ordered it from Can Ammo with a crate of non-corrosive. After far too long de-Cosmoline'ing it I took it out to the cottage for a little fun. Put 120 rounds through it with the held of my brother today.

First off, it is way nicer fit and finish than I was expecting, cleaned up really nice. Other than dropping the crate of ammo on my foot I don't have anything bad to say about this purchase.

Here is the newest addition to my safe.

After I got my inner 12 year old back on his leash and stopped trying to see how fast I could put 5 rounds down range. I tried it out for accuracy. Before anyone laughs, I am a mediocre shot at best so I was pleasantly surprised. Specially after I heard all the stories about how wildly inaccurate these are.

The bottom right portion was 5 rounds of milsurp ammo shot at 50 yards standing (leaning against a tree) with iron sights. The top right was 3 rounds of .50 cal from my brothers muzzle loader at about 70'ish yards.

I forgot to order the sight adjusting tool with the gun. That grouping was shot at the bullseye. Or at least what looked like it through my breath... lol

I picked up the same deal and I'm really happy with the SKS. It shoots pretty accurately and consistently at 50 yrds using the iron sights.

Most SKS's are surprisingly accurate up to 100 meters or more. I have averaged 3 out of 5 hits on the 200m gong at my range with my '54 Tula...

Yeah I met a fella at the outdoor range with a nice looking SKS [fully cera/dura/arma coated with a blonde refinish on the stock] and he was making crispy 2" groups, often with 2 or more touching, at 100m. Very impressive. And he said the only thing he did to it was the finish and got it coated.

SKS's shoot well when you consider what they were designed to do. My Yugo was an awesome shooter but when it comes to the SKS the Yugo M59 is a craftsman's art. They make Chinese SKS look like the crap they are.

Youre brothers muzzle loader is accurate.. youre sks seems more accurate than most. 1-1/2" group at 50 yds means 3" or more at 100, the groups do tend to open up more the further you shoot, so might well be a 4" group at 100 yards which is a very normal average for a russian. Pretty good considering some get 8 inch groups with mil surp @ 100 yds.

The Chinese SKS typically shoots better than most Russian SKS. I had one Russian that couldnt keep 5 shots on paper at 100 yds shooting prone with front and rear bags, and Chinese that could do under 3". I love the PLA SKSs, excellent rifles!

Sounds like my sks. 10 shots at 100 and hit the 18"x18" target board 4 times

Why buy a refurbished anything when you can buy new.I have a norinco and it is impressive right out of the box.
