Ok heres my question , I have been building and shooting my flintlocks and bows for a few years and grew up shooting my familys rifles and pistols.

I have been thinking about getting a lever gun a henry martini or a moisant nagant bolt action.

At the sportsmen show a few weeks back a nice gent told me something about how already experienced shooters can legally contest the regestry or some such thing.

So how do I start??

1. Goto the legalese section here and download the non-restricted safety course manual.

2. Read

3. Find an instructor that can schedule you to "challenge". (he will charge)

4. Pass the written exam and the practical firearms handling exam

5. Apply for your PAL ($60) - additional wrinkles apply if you are in Ontario

6. Buy guns!

See here for a list

There's a new rule. The instructor must mail your test result directly to the Ontario CFO. It means you cannot apply for your PAL until you get your test results mailed back with the CFO stamp of approval.

Some people wait as long as a month.

It has been over a month and I still have not received my test scores back.
I do not understand the reason for mailing the test scores. Does anyone know why this has to be done in Ontario?

Have you called the CFC to ask them what the problem is? They don't put out much effort to help things along, so often you need to call them and ask what the major malfunction is.
