Hi guys,

I am just about to start loading some test rounds and was working around with seating 168gr Berger VLDs on the lands using lapua brass. I kept coming up with a measurement of between 2.990 and 2.995" COAL. Is this in keeping with what you guys are finding on your Tikka T3 Tacticals (308)?

thanks in advance!

COL 2.810 according to my software for a 168gr bullet. How are you measuring it? ( what method?)

If you are trying to seat them out to touch the lands your measurement is correct. As the throat wears you will have to go out farther. This is for single loading, I don't think 2.995 will fit in the mag.

Hoochie, I am aware of the SAAMI specs, was trying to get tehm on the lands.

Thanks Maynard, Nope won't fit in the mag, turns my tactical into a single shot but the targets won't care I don't think ;)

Lemme know how you make out with the Bergers. I got frustrated trying to make 168's work, but I never tried the Bergers. I had an epiphany when I switched to 178 A-Max...

Also Obtunded your load that you gave me yield consistant velocty and very easy powder to throw and work with I am running 2620 avg in that load with a +- od 30fps and better!! that = the bullet hitting close to the same spot time and time again.
