Here we go again, trying to sort out which T3 to aim at.. massive price difference between the three. (varmint, super varmint, tactical).

Held them all and compared them all at Italian Sporting Goods, Vancouver. Great store btw.

The guy behind the counter told me something about the trigger, I can't remember its name now.

Basically, the tic tac can be easily adjusted down to one lb pull, or put up to 10, where as the varmint goes down to 3.5-4 lbs.

Now, he was saying that anything below 3 lbs is in danger of being fired by a bump, because that shakes and releases the ????

Any help on this, and how much this applies to long range shooting, will be devoured.

don't worry about it. just don't be a fool. The savage F/TR goes down to 6oz.

My 12fv is set at 2lb and its good but its not dangerously light by far. 1lb will be nice.

o shakes and releases the sear maby.

ahha! i think it was the sear, started with s, and thats all i remembered

ok, fair enough about the trigger pull, what's recommended if you intend to take said rifle to the range mostly, but sometimes hunting?

If hunting, keep it above 2 lbs. Realistically, in the field, you don't really need a trigger lighter than this, it won't be the trigger which throws off your accuracy, it'll be your heart pumping out of your chest.

Even for target shooting, anything below 1/2 lb is getting risky, IMO.

What is it for? If for use as a target gun at a shooting range, the trigger can't be too light, depending on your personal tastes, but for use in the field 3 pounds is about right. If you are unsure of the sear holding, conduct the bump test. The bump test is where you #### an unloaded rifle and drop it on its butt from the height of about 1'. If the sear drops the firing pin, the sear engagment needs adjustment. The last Tikka I owned was the Continental, which was only adjustable for weight and nothing could be done for the sear engagment, I'm not sure if this has been resolved on the T3s.
