Not sure what to do with my tikka ctr now

I have a tikka t3x ctr special edition from cabela’s with some nice upgrades like Teflon bolt, set trigger, muzzle brake etc, it is chambered in 308

I just ordered a Bergara Premier Canyon and now I don’t really see any point in keeping my tikka?

The Bergara will be superior for hunting AND long distance shooting… the only benefit the tikka has over the Bergara is the 10-round mag.

Sell the tikka ctr or keep it for something else? Maybe tactical shooting? I’d prefer not to sell a gun if I can find a use for it

I plan on hunting with my Bergara as well as shooting at 1000+ meters.

I’d keep it. What caliber is the Bergara chambered in? If the calibers are the same, I doubt your going to see a huge improvement in performance. If the Bergara is a higher performance round, you might appreciate having a 308 for cheaper ammo.

Totally possible. Just gotta find a barrel either new or used. I know someone has a 300 win and 300 wsm barrel for sale both showing good to 1mile.

However you would need to open the bolt face up as you would need magnum not standard. Ideally you want something with the same bolt face. Maybe a varmint round or low recoil like a 6.5 or a 6mm/.243 lots to choose from.

Maybe I’ll just stick a tactical scope on the ctr and call it a day with a heavy bipod for steel shooting at different distances with rapid target acquisition, the Bergara will be a lighter package for more precision where I can take my time

I only buy US military calibers so my selection is limited

In an apocalypse a 308 will be much more useful than a niche cartridge you know what I’m saying?
 
I wouldn't say the bergara is lacking in the magazine department as it uses an m5 aics bm. Load up on mdt 10rd at a fraction of the price.

Where did you order from and what's the wait time? Were they in stock?

The wait is 20 weeks. None in stock so I have to sit and wait patiently.

Now I start going down the rabbit hole of scopes.

Thinking a pretty simple and light 4-16 will be sufficient for the Bergara. The tikka will get some sort of tactical scope, then I can start playing with shooting data.
 
Change the stock on the Tikka, tactical in carbon. Heavy tac scope on top and I she will probably outshoot the Bergara...
