mmmmkay not sure why I did it but today I was looking around Whole Sale sports, and to buy a membership at the local gun range, when I decided to stop and look at the rifle scopes, welll one thing leads to another and look what decides to follow me home!
Awwww idnit cute!
So now here I sit not sure why I spent $250 on a scope.
So now I need yer help. Now I'm lookin for a rifle to fit under that new scope. I'm some what on a buget, say in and a round $500/$550. Two of the rifles I looked at at whole sale was the Stevens 200 in a .30/06, I had inquired about it in a .25/06 but they told me that they'd have to order it in and could be a couple of month wait for it to get in. The other rifle I looked at was the Remington SPS or was it the SPF, I can't remember, in a .270. Now I've heard mostly good things about the Stevens but haven't seen much on the Remington. What say you guy's on the Remington and the .25/06 and the .270 calibers, and yup I did see the .270 thread and I also gave up on the search function some time ago. What I did notice between the two rifles was the actions, the Remington was, to me, a fair bit smoother.
The main uses for this rifle would be for deer sized game and under.
Now the little voices in my head say just get it in the .30/06 (now I do know that it is a good all around caliber and can be had any where's) and stop fussing over it but..... Oh my there's just waaaay to many choices and so little money and time, what's a guy to do!!
Thanks for the time to answer this noob's questions and putting up with another possible opened can O werms.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that at some point I do plan on getting set up for reloading

Mmkay so I sold my soul and used the money to hold a new rifle, the Remington 700sps in .270wsm and also picked up a set of leupold rings and bases. Now al I need to do is wait for pay day this coming week so I can go and pick'er up in time for the weekend!
