Met a good friend at the club on Saturday and he showed me his new (to him) BSS. The wood! Jesus, don't take me yet. I have to keep fawning over this thing a bit longer. :sok2

He asked if I'd like to try it. I was playing with t he 28ga - so no 12ga ammo. He smiled and produced two rounds. It's choked fixed IM and Full. LOP is 15 1/2 - and my LOP is 13 3/8. I must have looked looked like an 8 year old girl holding her Dad's gun for the first time in her life. :d

The presentation was a low, quartering incomer broken at around 8 - 10 yards - and, on report, a 40 yard teal. Both just vaporized in a very satisfying manor.

The take home had nothing to with gun fit - or make model - or feel of the gun (almost) in my shoulder. It was the kills! The incomer was shot so close, the pattern must have resembled a slug and the teal vaporized in a similar manner. I've read about shooters using choke MUCH tighter than you'd expect but I'd lived by the idea I'd rather have 10 breaks than 7 dust balls. I just might have to re-evaluate that.

I get the same reaction when I use my 20 gauge with LM chokes for skeet doubles, after shooting rounds with the 410. But in the end, I still get more enjoyment out of clean rounds, even if the breaks aren't as dramatic.

I know the name of the game is break them all but I love inkballs! It boosts your confidence 10 fold when you're pulverizing them imo.

I felt the same way about a CSMC 28 Gauge I tried a few years ago. If it was only for sale ..................

One of the other 5 clowns in our squad of 6 always manages a " make sure you mark down a small x ...that was only a chip"...lol
Nothing like 5 ink balls in a row, followed by 2 regular breaks and the 8th shot MISS !!! ha ha ha

At our Nova Series 4 shoot event 2 yrs ago, when the final tally showed our squad of 6 had a total of 41...7 outta 8's between us, and 20 something were last shot misses, one of the guys said...dayyuuummm...looks like the magnificent 7 outta 8 rides again.
Was a hoot, soooo, I went and got Black/Orange Truckers hats made for all of us the following year with our new logo..."The Magnificent 7/8 Rides Again. It's amazing how many times it STILL rings true..as much as I try and talk myself out of it...lol

Was that Oscar's gun by chance ????

I think those inkballed targets do something to your brain, like an addictive drug where once you've seen one you crave more!
Every once in a while I take my trap gun to the 5 stand, it's fixed choked full and full and the inkballs are incredible when you center a target!

Inkballed the low house on station 1, the wind was blowing pretty good and the other squad member got a dust shower lol, glad I had my shot cam and get it on video lol

Gotta be 30+ yrs since I shot a SxS...my FIL's old Steven's 311 in 12 ga. I carried that brute for a full 2 days of bunny bashing....never again after that !
