Nov. 3, 2025 controlled deer season opens.

Headed north tomorrow to the camp for two weeks - stoked! Fingers crossed that the weather doesn't do something stupid because it is looking quite "reasonable". I have to cross a lake to get where I'm going so freezing temps can make things "interesting".

Good luck everyone! ๐ŸŽฏ ๐ŸฆŒ

Ive got 2 little bucks and 8 does/fawns on my trail camera. Lots of activity last 3 nights in spite of the rainy windy weather. So many girls, so little time. Reminds me if my teenager years. lol. Play safe !!

Guess I'm not going Monday morning now. Fuxked up printing my tag. It only printed my license summary and will not print the tag when they are both on screen. Now says tag printed. Story of my life. Will spend opening day in town in a useless government office. Good thing I waited til last minute lol

Always save first and print next.

Well, how did everyone do? We had our worse year ever this season. Just were not seeing anything during the day.

Same here. Worst year ever. Not one deer between the five of us.

10 days or so before the season we had heavy rains for a few days and that stopped the farmers taking down the corn. It was horrible, corn fields all around. To top it off, full moon, strong winds and the results are what they areโ€ฆ

We pushed bush after bush and nothing. Honey holes that always had deer, were empty.

At least we got to go out into the nature and relax, enjoy time with friends.

Beats working any time ๐Ÿ˜œ

I'm in the controlled hunt in December but I was on my property (76a) for three of the five days of the November controlled hunt and never heard a shot fired around me. That's a first for around here.
I've got ten cameras up and have seen very few deer all fall. Only two bears and three moose.
Neighbours, that live there, tell me it's been the driest year in 125 years. They are blaming lack of critters on that fact.

Ya we got 2 young bucks for 7 of us. Pretty slim pickings. Gonna head up to camp for the last 3 days of rifle season.

Exactly the same outcome for me as well.

No activity whatsoever. I had blamed the mining and logging in the area for pushing the deer out. Seems to be plenty of moose wandering around though

Saw does and fawns every day, many does being not much bigger than the fawns. Friday evening a decent, what I thought was a spike buck turned out to be a solid 2.5 year old with antlers that would never amount to anything, spikes, seven nubs and a bit of palmation, won't get a better eater.

Coyotes is the problem, If there are coyotes in the block the deer are elsewhere. Saw it on two of the four farms I hunt. Shame is all the farms had healthy flocks of turkeys up to about 3-4 years ago and every flock is down to one or two birds. All the other guys I talk to in the area are seeing the same, no birds and plenty of coyotes and the deer numbers are not what they used to be. A neighbour tells me for about two weeks in the spring coyotes are dragging fawns through the cameras every night, explains a bit. A farm one over from a hunting spot had 8 coyotes in the field Tuesday morning and another 2 chasing deer Wednesday morning. I think they went 1 for 5 on deer

Controlled hunt ended Friday.
Had family health emergency so only got to hunt Friday.
0 sightings and no deer harvested on our buck and doe tags.
Cameras show huge buck and big doe, at the mineral blocks, night and daytime on Thursday.
4-5 gun shots heard on properties around us on Friday morning and afternoon.
Cameras show lone wolf Saturday morning early. I think that's why the deer were laying low.

Best thing was we heard an elk bugling two times. I've owned the property for 9 years and that was a first and hopefully not the last. A real thrill to hear and proof of healthy and improving environment.
