For those of you that have owned and shot the Nova shotguns what is your experience with:

1) Reliabilty ( loading and extraction etc... )
2) Durability
3) Corrosion resistance
4) Smoothness of action
5) Ability to shoot 2 3/4 light stuff up to 3" mag loads with no fuss or muss

They strike me as a potential work horse of a gun.

Ive never owned or used a Nova, but my Supernova is far better than any other shotgun I've ever owned or shot. Its big and beefy, is super easy to strip and clean and the only fuss it ever gives me is with federal hulls. It feeds and fires them fine but occasionally when ejecting, they wont clear the ejection port and will stick out the side of the shotgun, blocking the chamber. Other than that it eats up anything from light 2 3/4" trap loads to 3 1/2" magnum buckshot with ease. As far as durability its one tough ass shotgun. Big parts, nuff said. Corrosion resistance? Polymer and parkerization on almost all exposed surfaces and chrome lined bore. Smoothness? Butter. Well worth the money for me :D AFAIK the Novas only have a few differences from the Supernova. I believe the stock is permanently attatched to the receiver and the trigger group is slightly different.

I have a Nova, no issues ever. It will handle the 3.5 inch shells & only recently got replaced with a Baikal MP153 semi... The Nova is a good shotgun.

Cheers
Jay

I have an early Nova and it came with me in mud, snow and sand without any issue. Never failed to fill the task.

Benelli Nova's and SuperNova's are excellent shotguns - I currently own both, and the quality and fit-and-finish on both are equally high. I've never had any feeding, firing or cycling issues. Both are simple to disassemble and clean. I've shot a lot light 2 3/4 #8 trap loads right through up to 3 1/2 #BB goose loads.

If you can afford it, step up to the SuperNova with the comfortech stock. These include shims to adjust the fit of the stock to the receiver, letting you custom-fit the shotgun to you. You can also buy different height combs, again to custom fit to you.

One note about the Nova - the stock and receiver are one piece, so there are no options of adjusting or replacing the stock, or adding a "tactical style" sling mount. One more reason to step up to the SuperNova if you can afford it.

I think they're as a ugly as a turnip, but I can really appreciate the quality. You can strip it, without tools, in under 5 minutes (okay - I never timed it, but it's really easy and fast). Built like a tank - I can't imagine anything breaking under normal (or even excessive) use.
