November 1936: American Rifleman reviews the upcoming Winchester Model 70

Hmmm what does $61.25 in 1934 prices translate into today's money?

Wait I used some Google fu:

$61.25 in 1934 had the same buying power as $1,047.15 in 2012.
Annual inflation over this period was 3.71%.

That review seemed better than the ones you see today, more informative, honest, and technical. I notice that the length of pull was shorter then than it is now, and I'm amused by how similar the prices are in adjusted dollars.

Anybody notice that the first group was 5 shots sub moa at 200? :) kind of funny, the lucky fluke was the first one. Overall it seemed to shoot very well!

As a fella who has always had a soft spot for model 70's thank you for posting the link. Very interesting article, as gun writers in those days apperared to more technical, thorough and to the point in there evaluations. There writing style and terminology is also different. In short they were far less full of horse feathers.
As mentioned the cost of the rifle to the individual has remained fairly consistant over the years.
