Now that OBTUNDED and the other BC Boys have me hooked on the FO-Class I have started a new project. My handle is no more complient, I do not have a Tikkatactical 308 any more:) it has been upgraded to my New 243 VLS with some modifications to my old VLS stock. The next upgrade to the barrel will be a 6mm also but I'm leaning heavy towards a 243 AI:D
The work is a little crud but I'm not quite finished yet.

Any comments would be nice if there nice comments.

Hears a few pics.

If you can, run a vertical support from the front of the steel rail to the bottom of the stock. Best if that is as rigid as possible. Any bouncing here will cause vertical stringing way out there.

Beyond that, Spin on a barrel chambered in what you like and have some fun.

I assume you are shooting at Homestead so you can reach out quite a ways. The 6BR is a wonderful cartridge but will get bounced around alot more then a fast 6mm or a 6.5.

I shoot a 6.5 Mystic/260 Improved variant. Better in the wind (excusing driver error) at LR but more recoil. Works for me.

Welcome to a most enjoyable form of LR precision shooting. The people are great and the shooting is challenging and as technical as you want it to be.

Enjoy...

Jerry

I like it. I would strongly consider the 6mmBR...

I'm with you on that one .my 6BR...is being built as we speek :D from my old 243 VLS
Thanks Joe-boy
Very pretty !! I like

Is the Butt plate / Bag Rail / mono-pod of your own making ?? Nicely done, very clever.

I think I tried to warn you when you picked up Ian's crack gun???
shockman...I was drunk when you told me I'm sure.:D

What optic are you running ????

Jen I'm running a 2x12 IOR MP8 dot scope I just love this scope and will buy one for my new 6BR if I can find a dealer in Canada. I would consider a Nightforce as well or Priemiar if I could find one better, but the new IOR 4x26 #7 would be one of my first choices.

Too much fun.........

what did you use for the rods and clamp setup for the vertical adjustment? what type of saw did you use to cut the stock? thanks

Your not going to believe this but I have a$1000.00 Dewalt Miter saw that came with a hold down clamp .....This is what I converted, if you look it up you may see what I'm talking about.
All I did drill a few more holes and screw it to the butt of my stock, I'm still thinking of adjusting the LOP but that’s miner due to I have a band saw in my basement as well as a number of other tools at my disposal.

Bucky, me man, As I warned you. You are one of us now. While you were swimming in pools of your own urine, while Tanis was re-enacting certain scenes from "demon Seed" and while you being attacked by malevolent fire-side lawn chairs and having your Johnny Cash collection replaced by Angus Young, your neck was bitten and you have joined the sinister ranks of the long precision/accuracy junkies.

In shooting a Palma match, you bypassed the Jagermeister and went right to the Tequilla! 8-900 shooting is a funky voodoo science where it separates the men from the boys. A 6mmBR will have the advantage of being utterly accurate, it is simply a question of learning where your bullet likes to fly for a given condition.

Are there "better" long range rounds, Yes!. Are their rounds that are easier to make work really really well? not a chance. I applaud your choice. Most F-Class matches are shot at ranges that start at 300M. You will kick serious butt with that round and more importantly, you will learn to be a better shooter earlier along the way.

I'd love to see you at one of our BC matches and shooting 3-600M. You have the talent my friend, I worry about the day I have to shoot against you!

HR will do a magnificent job on your gun, and you have the makings of a real serious tack driver!

Cheers Bud!

Ian
