So I finally got my 10/22...fun little thing to shoot. The problem is with all the threads regarding mods and what not, I'm itching to do something to it. I'm not a huge fan of the sights (mainly rear), but I'm not sure whether or not I want to scope it. Nor have I convinced myself whether or not I want it to look like a full on kick a$$ assault rifle. Too many options and ways to go. So, I'm throwing it out there - what are the best mods that have actually increased this rifles shooting ability...not just appearance. I'm all ears!!

My 2c:

If you're handy, DIY trigger job / action smoothing. I was able to get mine to run subsonic / target ammo, which is possibly the best thing you can do for mechanical accuracy.

If not, drop in trigger kit.

I'm looking at making my 10/22 my first project gun too. I've looked at lots of options like new barrels from Dlask, Kidd or Lilja, Kidd drop in trigger or trigger kit, CNC bolt, auto bolt release, mag release. I'm not interested in the tactical type guns, so mine will likely end up with a new laminated stock. Although I'm considering keeping the original stock and going for a Lilja sporter barrel... so many options.

Only thing I have ordered so far is a Tuffer Buffer, as I think I should look at budget before I go too crazy. I do already have an inexpensive Bushnel 4-12x40 scope mounted.

It looks like while there are lots of options available theoretically, most of them are sold in the US and won't ship to Canada. Stuff that is sold in Canada is most of the time out of stock. What's in stock is like 50% more expensive than in the US.

I am having issues finding what I am looking for. Just the other day I was looking for a performance trigger group, called several places and none of them had it. Maybe I am too impatient.

Welcome aboard.

With some digging, you will find there is quite a bit available in Canada. However as you noted, some will take time to get shipped to your dealer, then to you. Would be nice if there were more dealers who stocked parts and pieces.

I think hical is the place that most people here refer to for a Canadian source for 10/22 bits.

Brownells will ship a fair number of items, but sometimes you'll be denied.
