Curious to see what options are available within Canada for a NR AR style 300 blackout semi.

Perhaps a SRV2? Haven't seen much else. I would also like a short barrel :)

you can buy barrels, but i'd say most 300 aac short barrels are made for pistol-length guns so piston most likely not an option. raven or jard seem to be about it ...

IIRC the Americans were able to get a 16" 300 BLK to run subsonics with a carbine length gas system. That would possibly require hand loaded ammo to tweak the pressure curve.

I am not aware of any piston guns that will run subsonics, but that doesn't mean it cannot or has not been done. Even if a pistol length system is required, there is no reason a piston couldn't be cut down to fit. You may just have to buy the parts and take a chance you can make it work.

If you don't care about subsonic operation then choose whatever you want, it should work fine.

IBI lists a 19" carbine length 300blk barrel for the WK180, and they have 19" and 20" rifle-length barrels as well if you have an AR, Raven, Modern Sporter etc.

300 BO without the ability to legally suppress in Canada makes this cartridge largely pointless in Canada in my opinion.
The whole point of it is to launch relatively heavy 30 cal bullets at subsonic velocities with a suppressor.
I guess there is a novelty factor with it, but even .308 can be downloaded with hand loads and retains the ability for hotter loads with it's superior case capacity.
I guess more choice is always a good thing.

Even in the supersonic realm, 300 BLK offers some advantages over 762x39. The BLK was designed to run through the AR platform, where the 762 is a bit of a bodge job in the AR. There is also a much wider variety of projectiles available in 308 than in 762.

The primary downside to the BLK vs the 762 is cost. For basic blasting ammo, not much beats 762.

Downloading 308 to subsonic can be tricky work that has some potential for disaster. Its not the safest way to go if you want subsonic 30 cal.
