ns522 alternate magazines

Post some pics of the mag... Profile, feed lips, etc... Maybe someone will recognize something familiar.

A lot of the Norinco's use CZ 22Lr mags, but not all. Usually Norincos are a clone of someone else, so there should be something around. Either CZ, Anschutz, Marlin, Savage, Weatherby...

We're looking at very minor differences in size and angle being important here. To help us help you post a really good side on picture of the stock mag so we can see the angle and the configuration of the lips. At the same time use a set of calipers to measure the width and length of the magazine opening in the action. I say check the mag well because often the wells are overly loose and sloppy. So giving us both the mag well dimensions as well as the magazine dimensions would help a lot.

Pictures of the magazine retention system along with pointing out the notches or whatever the mags have for catches is also needed.

With these sort of details of the NS522 magazine you'll get a lot more of us able to check what we've got and helping out. Otherwise only those with the 522 can check the other options.

The magazines look simple enought. Sombody with a brake could likely shoot off a few. Here are some measurements.

Magazine
length: 1.169 =1.173
Width: .457 - .465
Height: 1.954 -1.983

The catch is a slotted hole .236 wide by .087 tall sitting .75 from the top of the mag.

Looks to me that the carrier determines the feed angle on this system. Don't have a protractor at hand but eyeballs would say it anywhere between 15 - 25 degrees.

Wonder if there's a 22 pistol mag that would work. A lot of them are on an angle though. I've heard the norinco EM332 mags may work but they may be NLA as well.

The rumour on the street is that KFS had a bunch of actions without bolts. These actions included the KFS American made walnut stock and spare magazines. KFS planned on having bolts made in the states but who knows if that ever happened. Keep in mind that all of this went down with Clinton was in power so god knows if KFS has this stuff still.

The NS 522 stock that KFS supplied was nice.

Magazines for these fine rifles are exceedingly rare. A single shot adapter came with some of the NS-522s sold in the US, and it should be much easier to make than the magazines themselves.
