Nscc 2010

Just got back from the precision. Awards were this morning, so score should be available if you ask for them.

There is WiFi but I found the signal on the weak side. For CFRC two weeks ago, I brought my Rogers stick and that usually worked better.

Great fun at NSCC this year! :ar15:

The new matches at 400m (13-16) were great as they doubled the amount of the long range stuff which most of us like. Shooting a Figure 12 snap shoot at 400m is good practice!

Match 17 the movers were also alot of fun, I've never shot a mover at 300m before and the guys did surprisingly well. We do not shoot enough movers these days and it went smooth as silk.

The disappointing thing about it was the turn out, military teams consisted of 20 LFWA shooters and a small Navy team. If you discount the range staff who all shot (8 civys) there was only Richard Poaps and one other guy. The navy guys were all local so it was no big deal to come out but if we did not come it would have been a bust. Where are all the shooters?

It's tough to take several days off work (especially with your family). My wife is allowed 2 weeks only and between here colleagues, they have to split up the weeks among their staff. With her 2 weeks window it's hard for me to get the time to shoot (read: away from the wife during her vacation time) so camping I went. :D

I tried to get up to shoot the Sniper matches on the weekend of 28-29 Aug, but I had to keep the home front happy.

With NSCC spaced out over a week, I could pull it off, but speaking for other civilian shooters in the private sector, time off during July or Aug is a premium. To complicate things for my Service Rifle shoot, I had to be back at work for 01 Sep Wed. Guess we gotta work with what we got.

Cheers,
Barney

Hoping to get there next time, diamondcutter. Also noticed there was nobody from LFCA. Disappointing!

It is really hard to schedule things to make it as easy as possible for people to participate.
Dates have to be firmed up early so that folks can make plans.
Shooting pistol, sniper and service rifle takes close to a week and a half, longer if travel time is involved. That is quite a chunk of time for anyone with other commitments, like working for a living....
After the heat this year, we were wistfully thinking about having NSCC during a spell of glorious fall weather.
Barney - there were no reshoots resulting from problems in the butts. Is this a first?

No re-shoots? Always a blessing whenever there are no re-shoots. Life is good. I've been very lucky this year, too. Kinda like my goaltending, "Better to be lucky than good..." :D

I will be there next August for the NSCC Precision I would have been there this year but like hungry said you need to keep the wife happy ...but I will be at CFSAC this year our ATESS team is leaving Tomarrow...
