Had a great time at the range today guys.

Getting warmed up on my M1 Carbine. Great little gun, rings the 100m gong easy as pie.

As promised, I told my wife I was driving all the way out to EESA to play with another guys Johnson. She says UHHHHHH? Unfortunately she was acting a bit cranky but that left lots of .30-06 for...

Me to put some rounds downrange with the M1 Garand. Heavy SOB but best battle sights I've ever shot, even the new shooters were ringing the gong with ease.

And finally I got some trigger time with the G43. She was acting a bit cranky too but I think I've figured out what is going on with her. Got a few rounds downrange anyway.

I got a grand total of one shot off with the Johnson and the recoil blew apart the lower hand guard - lost two bolts that five of us hunting around for literally could not find. Great day at the range though with fellow CGNers Mauser Mike and Don Kael as well as two of my fellow co-workers who made the drive down from Toronto

Had an awesome time, it was great meeting you fellas. Hopefully you get your Johnson back up and running DJ, have you figured out what's missing yet?

The part I actually found that we weren't even sure was from my rifle was indeed one of the parts. That's the retaining pin, but there should've been another little piece on the end that probably got sheared off from the recoil of the first blast. Not a major malfunction, I'm thinking

Hand guard itself is actually fine. Looked bad at the range but it's actually a retaining pin that popped out which released the barrel spring housing assembly in the hand guard. If you wanted to change out the barrel, you'd pop that out anyway, so I'm not too worried. I think she just needs a new pin and will be good to go. Probably hasn't been fired in a million years and the recoil from that first shot just drive that old worn pin flying right out

We found the case too. No signs of anything wrong with the fired brass. I agree with DJ, I think it just needs a couple parts and it should be running again for our next Johnson shoot.
