Well, I finally got to shoot a TR match this weekend after 21 years away.

2 and 10 at 300, 500 and twice at 600 for the Victoria on Sunday, and 2 and 10 at 300 and twice at 600 for the Kennedy on Monday.

A small but determined dozen or so braved the cold and bloody rainy weather to poke a few grains downrange. Thanks to a great crowd I managed to scrape together a pile of loaner gear and my $200 P14 and have a great weekend.

It was a scream to be back up on the mound again, and wouldn't you know it, the first shot with my creaky old unzeroed P14 and PH5C...perfectly centered V-bull. (4 min up from 100 yard zero..works great! LOL)

Very nice to see your reloads doing the business at 600m in the wind. Very satifying indeed.

So, here I am in the market for yet another rifle and yet more gear. :D

Thanks to the NSRA gang for making me welcome and maybe holding my hand a bit, especially Jeff for lending me a pile of gear and being so determined to get me out.

Another gang of shooters to drink with - I am truly blessed!

Right there after the first shot is where you should have considered going back into retirement:p Nothing to this stuff, eh? Now is there a trip to the CFRC planned for this year? What kind of TR are you looking for? I can keep my ears open for anything that comes up here in Ontario.
Welcome back.

I have a couple of leads on some really nice rifles down here right now - I have to decide if I want to let some hardware go in order to get some quality TR gear right away, or keep my toys, shoot a pile with my clunker and look at upgrading next year.

Then if one wants to shoot precision and TR; does one buy a nice HB Rem700 and have it fitted with TR sights, or buy an RPA and mount a scope?

Sweet, sweet question, what?

RPA with a ladder front sight. Pop the irons off and throw the scope on.:dancingbanana:
Or go with the Rem 700. Or you could go with a Savage with an extra barrel or two and have a switch barrel gun in a couple calibers.:D
The trick is to get it into the house without the wife knowing. The best method is to go to the range with an empty gun case and come home with the new rifle in the case. If she says anything just tell her you have had that rifle for years.:p Change the subject and offer to buy her a couple new pairs of shoes, on your way out to dinner.
You can also buy a new gun and have a buddy "RETURN" the rifle he borrowed from you 2 years ago.
