Hello cgners. What is a numbers matching, unfired since refurbishment, SVT 40 worth? All metal parts are electro penciled including the magazine. Stock is clean with no cracks or repairs. Its a 1942 Tula no rails in an AVT stock. Thanks for the help

That's not numbers matching. It's a refurb. Russians didn't have a "numbers matching" fetish as they had more loose mechanical tolerances than germans, so there is very few "matching" SVTs and they are mostly finn capture.

There is a sticky in Red Rifles forum by Horilka, which will tell you the rarity of SVT. And look at the EE. Tula goes for 600-800.

Matching numbers on the magazine will definitely add to the value, and not just a couple bucks.
I personally have encountered probably over 100 SVT rifles (new surplus, and used) through here, haven't seen a single one with a matching # magazine.

Sounds like your typical refurb, force matched in an avt stock. $600-750 would be my take on value, if it’s got a really nice shiny bore with minimal pitting then a bit more. It’s amazing how much the svt40 has jumped in value in the last few years, haven’t seen one in the $299-350 range in awhile.

about 40+yrs ago ,I was at a farm auction sale in Central Sk , and bought one, and a Colt SSA 22, cheap, No one know what the SVT was, including me, thou I did know Russia.
Figured out the ammo, shot it first time with a crap pair of ear plugs , now wear hearing aids. I think they cost me $60 and 90, each. It was still in a wrap/grease, non ref. 100% matching #
Wish I still had it. I would think it could have came in via Century International, maybe? Those where the only 2 guns there, maybe the kids kept the rest?
