I just got this email this morning. Yay!! :dancingbanana:

Dear Valued Customer,

Effective April 5th, 2017 we will resume shipping to Canada, Puerto Rico (U.S. protectorate), and Virgin Islands (U.S. protectorate).

These destinations will have separate shipping charges that have been adjusted to address the increased shipping costs. All AES processing charges will be discontinued.

that "increased shipping cost " was always a deal breaker with them. what's changed ? :confused:

A few years back, they charged $25 on top of the regular shipping fee to send it to Canada. That was the last time I used their services....
 
It happened just before the US election. I think a lot of people thought that Killary was going to get elected and they were flooded with orders and couldn't keep up.
 
They have low prices and an exhaustive catalogue, I keep my orders to bulk ones, and I think it's a good deal. If anyone has a better source, I'd like to know.

If only our dollar was worth something...
 
I tried ordering from them at the start of January and sometime later i got an email saying the order was cancelled.
Their official reason was that due to excessive orders during the holidays they were cancelling all international orders.
Saying international orders took too long to process and it was slowing down their business too much.

Whether that's true or not (an order is an order to me, int. or not) that's the reason they gave me.
I turned around and had a friend in the States place the order for me and ship it to me once he received it... took less time and cost less than it would normally have been.

Yes, that would be the cheapest way by far if one knows someone in the US. Right off the bat you are getting rid of their international shipping fee. Problem is, some parts may require permits to be able to ship legally that the average person doesn't have.
 
and of course your US friend has an export permit correct? if not your both in violation of ITAR you really don't want to mess with then on that!

As mentioned in post #11 by gunsaholic SOME parts require permits ... not everything is legislated by itar.
I would never ask a friend to violate any rules or laws just to satisfy my own interests.
I would never buy restricted or prohibited parts from the USA... the risks and headaches are not worth it.
Not to mention that i dont even own restricted or prohibited weapons, so i have no use for that.
Itar is mostly a watch dog for illegal arms smugglers... not for some guy looking for a 100 year old screw...

It's not because we order from Numrich that they are prohibited or restricted parts... they have much more than that in stock.
That being said i have bought and ordered parts from the USA (and from other countries) from online vendors and from eBay sellers many times... and many times my packages have been opened, inspected and dully noted as firearms parts & accessories (non restricted i might add) without ever having any troubles, never. Except maybe what i judge to be excessive fees from the border agencies, but thats another topic.
I know i'm not the only one....
Does that make me an expert on itar or cross border sales... no, i admit it....

Well, that will be a welcome switch if they dropped the international fee. There's been times in the past when I only needed a couple of small, low cost items but the mailing cost and international fee turned me away.
 
Fwiw, Brownells has a good writeup on their site re what is itar restricted and what is not. Most things are not, but stuff like barrels, bolts and receivers are and require the requisite paperwork.

Depends what it is. A private individual can ship certain gun related items to Canada without recourse. It's causes problems when a business does it without the proper permits.
