So I am in the process of converting my Norinco 1897 riot gun into a Trenchgun configuration. I purchased the reproduction heatshield off of Numrich for it, as far as I read the only real modification needed was to grind the 2 additional notches in the barrel for the screws to be able to pass through.
It seems the rear most screw notch does not line up at all with the hole on the heat shield. It practically looks like I have to create 3 new Notches. the spacing between the notch and end of the magazine tube appears to be 1/4". As opposed to the heats shield which seems to have a 3/8" gap from the back of it where it butts up to the magazine tube and the screw hole.
I want to hopefully get some light on the subject and see how others have done it since Ive read a few forums that say the heatshield mounts no problem. Is there something plain off about my gun or the shield?
Pic included for clarification.
