I’m stuck between the two honestly. I like shooting groups on paper. Occasional steel plate and small varmints. For those of you who have one of these scopes or have looked through one of them what do you think?

If you use the illuminated reticle at all go with the FFP.

I have the FFP on my Modern sporter.

I usually do not need to turn on the illuminated reticle (MOA).
In most light, I can see the reticle quite well at low magnification despite my deteriorating eyesight.

However I am glad to have it for when I have very low light and/or larger dark targets.

I thought illumination is standard on the NX8s anyways... I could be wrong

I previously had a Cabela's Covenant 7 FFP 3-21x50...... which for its pricing point was excellent value ..... but since the glass was not as clean as a Nightforce, I often wished it had an illuminated reticle.

I purchased a NX8 4-32 MOAR-CF2D late last year. With the illumination turned on the tube lit up and there was a "halo" around the outer edge of the reticle. Luckily I never mounted the scope and was able to get a full refund. Nightforce claimed there was nothing wrong with it.

The NX8 FFP's are good to go. I have no concerns other than mounting restraints with the 2.5-20 and the eyepiece diopter can be a bit fun to set.

I'm surprised they let that get past quality control, and then to tell you that there was no issue.

With my 2.5-20 on full illumination I get absolutely no halo or blur on the reticle. Keeps a nice sharp contrast at max illumination. The numbers do not get nearly as bright as the rest of the reticle but I can still read them.

Agreed, mounting due to the shorted tubes (especially between the dials and objective lense) makes for a bit of a PIA... but that is really the only (very minor) thing I can b#tch about.

Glad I bought the scope. My satisfaction with its performance is second only to my NF Competition 15-55

My nx8 2-20 is here. It has some sort of halo effect going on around the outside of the reticle. Not sure whether to complain about it or suck it up. Scope sure seems quality tho otherwise. Eyebox is a bit more sensitive than the nxs 5.5-22 I looked through but that’s cuz of the short scope tube I think?

Did you get the SFP like sask378 had ?

If so, I have to wonder what they are thinking at NF letting these on the market with flaws on the reticle.

No this one is ffp. The halo is only noticed as you turn the brightness up on the illumination and as you turn up the magnification the halo begins to disappear more. Glass is definitely better than the nxs series

Recently picked up a FFP 2.5-20 and really like it so far. Its impressive on 2.5x and the reticle is still useable, if it was low light or dark background just turn on the illumination and good to go. Its impressive on 2.5x is pretty much like a red dot i can actually see the muzzle in the bottom of the FOV. 20X its nice and clear. Its not quite the clarity of the ATACR or Gen 2 Razor but its a fraction of the weight, size and cost so its right where it should be. Mounted mine on a Tikka 7mm light LR hunting rig on Medium NF Ultralight rings. Slight bummer, the scope doesn't come with a sunshade, that is and extra $40 afterwards

Yep I agree. It’s a sweet scope. Kinda bazaar they don’t throw in a scope shade. Oh well. 40$ on top of what it already cost isn’t that much more. I did not want the 4-32. I do not like super high magnification scopes. 18-20 at the high end is good. I think I’ll be using this one mostly around 16 power and under
