Hey guys ,
I'm looking to buy my first pistol and I think I'm going to buy a Nz-85. I've heard a lot of good and haven't heard any bad reviews. Plus it's pretty cheap. Anybody here have any input?

Also I'm leaning towards the .40 sw , but mostly just because I've got the dies for it.
Thanks

.40 sucks to shoot (just my opinion). 9mm is cheap and readily available and has less recoil to try and learn to control. Its the better bet to learn with, and then go to .45 or 10mm....40 is a dying caliber.

I have one n both calibers. Both are excellent. Both have trigger jobs and the original sights. Both are very accurate. if you shoot reloads, ammo is about the same cost.

Mine does well with 180 gr lead SWC and 3.5 gr Titegroup.

I prefer the .40 S&W to the 9mm. I have a few of both and the .40 is a little better. I have never heard of a Nz-85. The 9mm isn't hardly worth reloading but the cheap ammo you can get is next to worthless, like white box Winchester. The .40 seems to be easy to reload and worth it money wise. The .40S&W is a little stronger round than the 9mm.

I don't know if the NZ85 is as flexible, but I have a Glock 22 which is 40cal.

I then purchased a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel.

Voila! I shoot both calibres, but I prefer 9mm over 40cal.

I would buy that pistol in .40S&W because it would be about the lowest price I could expect to try out that calibre (I have a Browning Hi-Power in 9mm and I don't shoot my handguns much.) But if it were to be my first handgun and for while my only one, I think I would in the long run be better off getting a 9mm. The Norinco copies of various pistols are not all equally successful. Their NZ copies of CZ, seem to be amongst the better ones.
