Most over/under shotgun manufacturers make specific ladies models nowadays. These normally have shorter stocks, more drop and/or higher comb, perhaps a slimmer stock, maybe a shorter grip. They will usually be available in 28” or 30” and will be moderate in weight and well balanced. Models such as the Rizzini Venus, Beretta Vittoria, Caesar Guerini Syren and others are available but hard to find in stock and nearly unobtainium used. They are also expensive but because of high demand are easy to resell if the passion fades. Most lady beginners that enjoy the sport and become proficient at it start with a standard gun, modified in varying degrees to fit a lady. These modifications usually start with a field gun with 28” ( occasionally 30”) barrels, most often 12 gauge but sometimes 20, Berettas are a favourite because of their slender compact profile. Other than balancing, almost all the mods to fit a lady require major surgery to the stock and a more practical solution is to purchase and fit a ladie’s stock to a good low mileage field gun.
