My Redding Match Seater is turning out variations in OAL of up to ten thou with 260 Rem Sierra 107 MK bullets.....is the likely problem with the die or could the press be showing "wear". Note: I also load the same bullets with a Hornady die get less variation.

Are you measuring the round from the case base to bullet tip? If so, this is not a good practice. Bullets are made with attention to dimension of bullet base to bullet ogive shoulder. Tip position does not matter.

The Sierra match bullet can have a 20 thou variation in lenght, but ogive location is very good.

Your seater should engage the bullet close to the ogive shoulder, so that the distance to the rifling is consistent.

To measure the ogive location you need something to put on the bullet that resst near the ogive shoulder. You can buy one or make one out of a piece of barrel.

Thanks for the input. I just measured ten bullets out of the same box and there was a .026" difference between the shortest and the longest....with no two pieces measuring the same length. Now, I don't understand how these bullets shoot as well as they do!
