I searched with no real answers...

Is 38 super ammo hard to come by? I have my eye on a certain gun in that chambering.

I tried SFRC, not listed

Canada ammo, out of stock.

Has Anyone seen any in their travels?

Thanks.

I was going to post this in the ammo section, but thought other CGN members who shoot this caliber may have some direction

That cartridge is far from obscure. Do a quick google search, it's common in some of the most popular shooting sports. I haven't seen much around in gunstores myself.

Yes, found lots on google...SFA on here though...may not exactly be obscure, but it is not exactly easy to track down here. Seems the elusive 10mm is easier to find

Just want to find a Canadian source and buy a couple thousand rounds to have in the event I buy this particular gun.

It is quite readily available around here in factory ($$) form. Trouble is, the guys who use it for IPSC usually load beyond factory specs to make power factor. Thus commercial reloaders (where you get good prices on bulk) won't usually touch it.

To summarize, handloading is your best bet. Still a cool round.

Are you looking at RRA or Kimber?

When I first got my Kimber Stainless Target II in .38 Super I bought factory ammo (UMC yellow box) for it at Wholesale Sports. I reload for it now though.

Good luck getting LeBarrons to bring in something from their warehouse!!! If it aint in store you can request till the cows come home......I'm still waiting on a savage 93R17 BTV....2 years (not really, I lost hope 3 months after the fact)

Here's the problem: if you are 'test driving' a compensated IPSC pistol, factory ammunition will not have the power or gas volume for the slide to cycle, or allow the compensator to work as it is designed to.

I have seen people new to reloading load a SAMMI spec 38 super (afraid of the overload) into a comp'd gun and wonder why it won't cycle.
Then you hand them your ammo, and the gun is 'fixed'

If the gun is not compensated, factory ammo or reloaded to SAMMI spec will work fine

I watched a guy punch 5 bullets through the same hole at 25 metres with a colt gold cup in .38super. But to take full advantage of the round you have to reload. Even if you find some it not like you can try different brands to try out in a gun. Its far too rare.

Update. Found a case of Remington UMC .38 Super +p ammo. Bought a case and should be good. Now to order the gun!

Thanks for the help. I will be keeping the brass for when I get my reloading set up rolling.
