obscure question about AI one-piece mounts

I have an Accuracy International 18 MOA one piece mount for this 4-16x50PMII scope (as seen in photo).

I learned today that the 5-25x56 and 12-50x56PMII's use a different construction where the "bulb" on the bottom of the scope sticks out considerably further (than on the 3-12 and 4-16 models) and you cannot use this (18 MOA) one-piece mount with them. The distance between the base and the rings is just not enough. you can put the middle of the base flat against the flat "bulb" of scope, and the bottom rings still won't touch the tube.

Question: which ones do work? The 28 MOA, the 45 MOA, or just the "extra high" mount in 45 MOA?

I'm waiting for a response from Wolverine. Thought I would check here. Somebody must have a 5-25x56 in an AI mount.

Thanks.

Buy a Spuhr mount for A.I. instead. More money but far nicer.

Sorry, I know that doesnt answer the question you asked. I can check how much deeper the turret housing is on the 5-25 vs. the 4-16 when I get home. Have both.

I was able to find some information on this by searching around the net.

The 0, 18, and 28 MOA mounts will not work with the big S&B's (5-25x56 and 12-50x56). For this you need the 45MOA mount.

The "extra-high" 45MOA is, surprise, surprise, even higher... and designed to get the 56mm objective scopes to sit above the full length picatinny rail on an AX rifle.

If it's any help, from the measurements I was able to make (both scopes are mounted in TRG 3-ring mounts) it appears the 4-16 PMII's turret housing extends 3mm below the bottom of the scope tube. The 5-25 PMII's turret housing extends 6mm below the bottom of the scope tube. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. In case anyone else might ever need the answer to this, this was the reply from Wolverine:

Depending on MOA desired;
5656 34mm MOUNT FOR PICATINNY RAIL (45moa) 36.5mm height - S&B 5-25X56 scope will fit $199.00 (in stock)

Or the;
6941 34mm MOUNT FOR PICATINNY RAIL (20moa) 41.3mm height - S&B 5-25X56 scope will fit $199.00 (not in stock)

Best Regards;

I ordered the regular 45 MOA mount, and I'll see how that goes.

I read some stuff on the net about a guy milling 2mm off the top of the middle-section of the base on the 28MOA mount to get it to work with the "big Benders" (5-25 and 12-50). I actually didn't realize that the "big Benders" are an entirely different "envelope" than their longer standing PMII products.

Thanks for the info about Spuhr. I looked at his website. I will look at that going forward. Do you have to order them from Sweden or does someone import that line. I need something for right now, and I have had very good results with those AI one-piece mounts. Pure simplicity, reliability, and holds zero without any issues (in my experience anyway).

Here are some photos of my rifle with the 12-50x56PMII and the 45MOA mount, and the same picture from above with the 4-16x50PMII with the 18MOA mount. Undoubtedly I will have more to say about the scope in the near future. Eye relief is a little shorter on the big scope, which is why it is sitting back a bit further. It seems to feel/see pretty good where it is. I might have to make some fine adjustments as I go.
