I don't own a pcc in this caliber - yet! but I was doing a a comparison of Glock 21 and it's derivatives... and noticed that whoever designed their magazines must have been thumbing their nose at the limitations...

This is how the 10 rd limited 45acp magazines are done - there's a ridge that will stop the 45acp rounds from going in at the 10 rd mark.

The round pictured is a 400corbon round - 45acp necked down to 40 and it happens to just miss the ridge...

So 13 round mags if using 400corbon. I expect the same limiter type could be applied to drum mags so 40 round magazines that could be used in a pcc...

So... what pccs in 45acp do we have that I can try rebarrelling to 400corbon besides the Kriss Vector and the Ruger LC carbine?

My little set of Glock 21 and 41 + 10mm conversion barrel and a 40corbon conversion barrel

FNS 40 sw mags will take 17 of 9mm (I have a post on the subject somewhere on here) - my interest is specifically in getting a drum mag to work with 400corbon.

The caliber is rare but it may just get a new life if it meant 40-round drums?

strangely enough this does not seem to be illegal https://rcmp.ca/en/firearms/classes-firearms/maximum-permitted-magazine-capacity#s2

Magazines for semi-automatic handguns which contain more than 10 rounds of a different calibre

Magazines designed to contain centre-fire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semi-automatic handgun are limited to 10 cartridges. The capacity is measured by the kind of cartridge the magazine was designed to contain. In some cases, the magazine will be capable of containing more than 10 rounds of a different calibre. However, this does not determine the maximum permitted capacity.

Example

Heckler and Koch P7 pistol chambered for 9 millimeters Luger centre-fire calibre:

  • The magazine designed for the 40 S&W centre-fire calibre variant of the pistol will hold 13 cartridges of 9 millimeters Luger centre-fire calibre and function in the 9 millimeters Luger centre-fire calibre P7 pistol
  • This is allowed as the maximum permitted capacity of the 40 S&W centre-fire calibre magazine is measured by the number of 40 S&W centre-fire calibre cartridges it is capable of holding (10 in the case of the HK P7 pistol magazine)

55recce that's exactly what I was aiming for :)

Another example is the FNS and how the mags are factory pinned there - the 40sw doesn't limit 9mm at all so full 17rd capacity legally according to the RCMP ;)

High Point .45 carbine of course..For the Win! lol. too bad we can't get the Bull-pup conversions..then I'd buy one in .45 or 10mm.
This conversion is pretty "kool"..I'm thinking of doing it on the cheap 9mm I picked up for $250.
*Edit -sorry, my bad...High Points don't take Glock mags lol

So would a Glock 21 magazine work in a Ruger pcc for example? Or a Glock 17 or 19? I have heard of Sig .40 magazines working in the 9mm.
Glock 21 mags are too big for anything that takes Glock 17/19/22 etc mags.

It would need to take 21 or 20 mags specifically...

If you wanted to look at the 17/19 form factor - the 17/19 mags are limited in the same fashion if from the factory, so if a similar bottlenecked cartridge is found then there may be an option to do the same... I'd look at 22tcm9r or 5.56x24 for this but unfortunately I do not have the cartridge handy to check - I think it's even more obscure than the 400corbon. Also the 'ridges' in the factory 10rd for my 34 are pretty high - I'd want to check glock 22 mags to see if they are shallower for lack of a better term.

Another angle might be trying 357sig in Glock 22 mags, but I think the bottle necking is not likely to be enough to take advantage of this.

45gap magazines may be another angle to try - they are 10 rds to begin with so would not be limited at all... but there are no drum mags for 45gap so I don't think there's anything to gain there besides potentially having standard capacity mags for 9mm or 40sw... provided they feed well.
