Obsolete and hard to find ammo and casings

There is the collector ammo guy from Calgary, Merv. He travels to most every show. He can sometimes line you up with older stuff.

Different guys for different things. You have to be more specific.

Rustywoods, Ellwood Epps, Buffalo Arm, ....
EE is often best if you wait long enough.

What vagrantviking and Dosing said, plus if you are looking for shooting ammo rather than examples for a collection, you might want to get a copy of the Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Conversions and investigate making your own.

Does anyone know a good source for hard to find, antique and obsolete ammunition and casings.. Does anyone "know a guy"?

How long is string?

Useless fricken question, unless you actually ante up a lot more info. Specific calibers, uses, are you after singles for a collection, a couple hundred a year to load and shoot competitions, etc.

There is a guy in Alberta somewhere by the name of Stan Taylor who does a lot of gun shows and is a collector / dealer of old and obsolete ammo. If you pm me I can 'probably' find you his phone number. He is not a CGN member.

Bruno Gross in Fairview AB (780) 835-4648 is the guy I went to for 8x57R, 6.5x54MS and a couple other oldies. that was a few years ago, hope he still sells hard to get stuff.

I have most reloading components for the calibers I'm looking for just running shy on brass. along with factory ammo. Not one for collecting I need shooters.

Bruno went out of business a few years ago, he does the odd gun show selling off anything he still has.

Seriously, is it hard for you to say what you're actually looking for? :bangHead:

And if you're looking for components to reload, this is also the wrong sub-forum.

The cases you mention are easily made from other cases. I have about a dozen obsolete cartridges I make up. Sounds like you don't want to do the work. The only way I would be shooting mine is with conversions. It can be a long wait for cases to show up.

i have 16 rounds of 9mm x 57mm really rare
cause i have a cape gun and the rcmp told my father the caliber was 9 x 57 so i found some rounds of it but it did not fit in
i made a cast with cerosafe and measure it
it turn out to be 35 win 9.1 x 61mm and i found 20 rounds on (arme a feu Quebec )
