Took three this week. A Savage 16 in 6.5-284, an early German Weatherby Mk V in 300 Wby, and my old Rem 725 in 280 Rem. Had some loads I wanted to try out. 6.5-284 was Berger 140 old target bullets over WC872 powder. 47.7 gr gave me one ragged hole. The 300 was 180 gr Nosler ABLR bullets over 7828 and RL25. Sadly the best load was only 1.5 moa. Back to the 200 partitions I guess. The 280 was 154 gr Hornadys over RL22. No really tight groups here either. Ah well, back to the bench for next week. - dan

You think a different powder might tighten that up or is it the 300Wby penchant for flat based projectiles thats impeding it?

I'm going to try a couple other powders, but I suspect the latter is the reason. - dan

I’m going to try 4831sc with either GS/Hot-Cors or Partitions over the winter/spring.

I do have some 200gr ELDX and LRX as well. I backtracked this morn thru a couple of saved 300Wby threads I had, There was mention that the TSXs were workable as well.

4831 and 180 gr Hornady interlocks have always shot well in mine. Wish the bullet was a little tougher though. - dan
