I'd love to chat with anyone who has hunted Bison in this MU in October.I was lucky and got a draw.I actually put the card in as a lark as I had one left over. Now I need to figure out a few things about the area and what I can expect. Thanks in advance!

Lack of reply's is because of how rare it is to win.

First off, Congratulations !

A friend of mine won the same hunt last year. ( only in Alberta) They and a lot of other hunters also had no idea what they were looking for / doing. so they all just kinda shared info for the best.

This is the 3 things he would tell you.

= look all over for fresh sign. Its gona be cold so odds are you will do it from ur truck. Use a quiet one.
= males are hard to pick out. aka - gota see if it has a ####.... and its cold out.

= After you shoot it you gota call the MNR guys. Wait for them before you do any work to the animal. not to be doing things correct,,, just simply they will end up doing most of it for you just outa what they gota do.

and a bonus,,,, bring warm gear.

"...about the area..." You should be able to get a Top Map from the MNR or whatever it's called in 'Complete Denial'. MU 7-57(58) doesn't mean much without a real location.
You'd best clear out your freezer too.

That area may be cold, but may not be cold at all in October.
I have hunted it in December, and it was -35ºC. Great hunting, but mighty cold.
My son-in-law drew a tag in mid-November and it was +10ºC and a west wind at 20kph and higher....not a speck of snow to be found anywhere.
Hunting was tough.
Guess what I'm saying is be prepared for anything, weather wise.
The hunting will be much better if there is snow on the ground.
Regards, Eagleye.

7-57 A or B???? I had a draw in 7-57 B last year (Sikanni River). PM me if you think I can help. Also, as suggested above, lots of info on HuntBC. Some current, lots when you use the search function.

Been on 2 hunts up there for buffalo. a lot of fun but stinking cold, -30 was the warmest it got on the last one. also both times, even late Nov and Mid Dec, there was next to no snow, makling it extreamly dificult to get around. Saw a ton of Buffalo at night, had them wandering right amongst our tents one night, and would see them in the meadow infront of camp in the middle of the night when we'd get up to piss, but never had any luck getting close enough during legal shooting light! a ton of fun though!

Its 7-57A.There isn't anything against using atv's as far as I can tell so far.

never been drawn for that hunt, but in that country in october expect temperatures somewhere between +20 and -35.
