Odd Shaped AR Mag

I have one AR mag that is an odd shape, has no markings and does not fit into any AR lowers that I try it in.

It is in the below pictures on the left. A normal AR Mag is on the right for comparision.

It is shorter than a typical 30 rounder and appears to be wider.

I cant remember where I got this mag.

Could it be for a 7.62x39 AR? Even the follower in the mag is shorter and fatter than others that I have in 5.56?

Any thoughts?

+2 Easy way to tell. Look at the end of the follower. If there is a little "Spike" there then it's definantly a Mini-14 mag. The spike is for the hold open. Look in front of the mag, is there a little hole?

Actually, there is an eaiser way to tell. Fill it up. Load it in a Mini-14. If it fails to feed properly, then it's DEFANTLY a mini-14 mag

Man I was excited there for a minute. I only have the stubby 5 rd mags for my mini and thought I got a nice mag by accident.

But I just tried the mag in the mini and it is too wide to fit in the mag well.

Perhaps it is for a mini 30?

I am starting to wonder if it is a mini 30 mag... That could be the best guess yet. I dont have a mini 30 to try it in, is the mag well wider than a mini14?

Is there a hole in the front of the mag where it locks into the receiver? if not it's not for the mini 14 or mini 30.

It has the wrong shaped curve for a mini30. Being 7.62x39, they have a curve similar to that of an AK mag.
