"...how do shooting glasses fit over eyeglasses..." Your specs, assuming they cover your whole eye, have impact resistant lenses. You don't need anything else. However, if you insist, the goggle type safety glasses should work.
"...forgot gun oil..." And grease. Some parts need grease, not oil.

-Paper targets (If your range can't provide them)
-Masking tape to get the most out of your targets (Cover the flyer holes up and try again!)

Oh and if you have a crappy staple gun like me, extra staples to replace the ones that seem to fall out mid way up the range for target change! :bangHead:

Good thread.

As for eye protection; I've read that the UVEX XC/Genesis are great value. They're cheap and meet ANSI Z87.1-2003, CSA Z94.3 and MIL-STD-662 standards. You can get RX inserts for them too; I'm looking to go this route.

For ear protection, I'm thinking of grabbing the 100-pack of Workhorse Disposable Ear Plugs from Home Depot. They're rated for 29dB, is that sufficient?

Can some give recommendations for grease/oil/cleaning solvents? Thanks!

Yup, the ear plugs will be fine, you might want to add a set of inexpensive muffs if you are shooting beside someone with a high intensity cartridge and a muzzle brake. But you'll be fine for now.

The eye-pro sounds like a good idea too.

My glasses aren't that big, so it would probably be for the best. I've never had to deal too much with safety glasses, always having used goggles for lab work before.
