Takin' names, are ya? :)

I'mma coming. See y'all there.

And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder; One of the four beasts saying, "Come and see." And I saw. And behold, a white horse. ... (Revelation 6:1-2)

What time is it? I can probably show up unless it's really early in the morning (will be out of town). never shot a IPDA tho (just IPSC) so if someone's willing to bear with me and show me how it's done I'm in.

Last squad will go at 3pm. It is a show up and register. No Pre-registering. If the last squad is full and you show up, you may be SoL.

The biggest differences between IPSC and IDPA are:
1. Only 2 mags on the belt. (As many as you want total, but only 2 on the belt.)
2. Do not leave partial mags behind (Keep all ammo on you not the ground).
3. Use COVER if at all possible. (Minimize profile, or if physical cover is present use it.) Maximums of 50% upper body exposed to targets and ZERO lower body (aka legs & feet).
4. Engage targets in tactical priority. Biggest threat (Gun, Knife, then unarmed) and by distance (closest to farthest).

No walkthroughs, just a basic stage briefing for the squad and then you solve/complete the CoF with the guidelines given.

Try to get along

So 7.62 you show up to one match and your an expert?

Lets all play in the same sandbox and try to get along. the whole idea of ODPL is to shoot without attitude and being safe and fun. If you didn't enjoy yourself, I am sorry for your experience. Lots come out to matchs and actually have a good time believe it or not.

Running matches is a learning experience as anyone who has run them will testify to. The person who was running the match you attended is new to running matches and is learning.Try to cut him some slack and be thankful someone is taking the time out to run matches so others can enjoy.

Instead of running down another shooting sport why don't you try it again or just nod your head and say it is not for me.

I was wondering how you guys were promoting the Sport! This does seem like the most fair and equitable way to do things!

I showed up to an ODPL event last year, same deal, first come, first served. Sign up was at 8:30 I think. I was there at 8:15 and the "First" squad was already full. I was told I would have to wait until the next squad started. Well I thought, how bad could it be? Wait around for a couple of hours, 10 Am 10:30 AM at the latest, right? WRONG!!!!!! 1:00PM>

a. get there at 08:00 next time :D

b.like beresmith mentioned .. yeah, some clubs are new at running matches and still have to learn a few things. You must have hit a club having a a bad day.

ODPL wants to be removed from IPSC and IDPA and not have any "RULES" but you are already shunning people by having your own " "Cliquey" club!

"Removed"..? I never knew it was attached..? :D
How is welcoming everyone "Cliquey"

That is how I saw it anyways! So if you feel like waiting around for an undisclosed amount of time waiting to shoot, by all means attend.

At least wait until after my match is done before leveling your unqualified critisizm...

BTW. This was my way of maybe/possibly you might want to consider/entertain the idea of Squads and start times....just a suggestion!

I do for some matches... Chose not to for this one. I'm MD. so I'll wear it for better or worse.

We'll it couldn't have been at Galt then. We had ZERO matches last year due to CFO & Range reno's.

Now TWO years ago, Galt ran it's first Multigun match and it was a steep curve learning experience. We way over did it and sorely underestimated the time to run squads through. First Squad of 6, 6 stages 4 HOURS. Man did we learn fast though.
Squads 2 & 3 of 10 shooters (reduced Stages to 4) 3 Hours.

Found the thread.... http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=267612

That will be the single last time I come out to one of the ODPL events....unless it was your guys intention to have it be the Club of the informed/or Back scratchers society, your own private shooting forum.......
Go right ahead.....ODPL wants to be removed from IPSC and IDPA and not have any "RULES" but you are already shunning people by having your own " "Cliquey" club!

Yup. If that is how you feel more power to you then. Everyone who DID wait around and shot the match loved it, so C'est la vie.

Cliquey? Sure. No more than any other club's action shooting members (IPSC, SASS, etc...)

Not that I am bitter!:D Just saying is all!

BTW. This was my way of maybe/possibly you might want to consider/entertain the idea of Squads and start times....just a suggestion!
Considering how opinionated your recall is for a single event that happened nearly 2 years ago...

I will note that back then we DID do the pre-assigned squads as you sugessted. On-site registration was for walk-ons and if there was no space left you had to wait. That is why now GALT is all on-site only. You want to shoot early, you better get there early, otherwise you wait for the next squad or go home. Very simple, very easy. As for squad times, we strive for 4 squads, one every 2 hours, or more frequent if the COF allows. I refuse to rush participants through to cram as many people into a match as possible, it defeats the purpose of the match which is to have safe fun with a gambit of toys.

Anyway... I started this thread as a match notice/reminder.

If anyone wants to talk about how ####ty they think ODPL is how about they start their own thread.

Match will commence as scheduled on Saturday the 14th... First shot will ring out at 0900
5 Stages... rounds count is approx 70. Bring 100.

'Looking fwd to it.

Last squad will go at 3pm. It is a show up and register. No Pre-registering. If the last squad is full and you show up, you may be SoL.

Not likely at my match... If you're a late comer and we haven't torn down yet or the sun hasn't retired for the day then hell... I have no problem running a few more shooters through the CoF.
'Done it many times...

Of course I've also waited around for a couple hours for guys who "said" they were coming, but never showed up...

I got over it

Not an expert, just relaying my experience!

Thought others might like to know what to expect!

And you are right it wasn't at Galt!

The Match was last year, and I did show up on time.....I actually left another function at my own Club, drove 1 1/2 to get to the match, only to be told I was on the next squad.

Is it that difficult to provide squadding?

Thought others might like to know what to expect

Okay... So you don't want to come. We get it, but.... How can you expect to be able to accurately tell others what to expect when you aren't involved?
You have an opinion based on one experience and you come feel the need to hijack the thread with it..?
Class act pal.

7.62mm:

ODPL is still relatively new compare to IPSC. They do not have advanced booking system in place like ipsc-matches.net. Reason for first-come-first-serve is to eliminate people that say "I'll come" but decides not to show up. It sucks to hear about what happened to you, but instead of complaining I'm sure ODPL would like a helping hand if you decide to make a donation to help create online match booking system.

While ipsc-matches.net is great, there are also those who are not good with computers/internet. So there really is no perfect solution out there.

Also... ODPL is a league. Not an association, confederation or whatever. We have no intention of becoming some sort of national/international shooting org.
I Look at it in the same light as your local inter- county bullseye league.
Shooters putting together matches for shooters. That's it.
The league has been growing/ developing at a steady pace over the last three years or so. Feed back has been overwhelmingly positive and my inbox is full of requests for info on how to get involved so.... Although 7.62's extensive experience with ODPL has left him sour on it I don't think it's fair to come here and slam someone elses game.

Wuddya think some would say if I entered a thread about an IPSC match and started bashing IPSC because I was put out by something that happened.
I bet I'd get modded/infracted ASAP.
