Hey all,
Now I know it can be done as many of you seems to have succeded quite well. But can I install "original" A2 style stock, grip and handguard on my nork AR-15 WITHOUT custom work??? Just bolt on?? I know the threads are metric as opposed to a regular A2, but I have no idea how the furniture attaches to the gun. Also, where would be the cheapest place to get those parts?? I believe there is an US export ban for those, please correct me if I'm wrong. Tryed searching around, but found very few things, and nothing in my taste.

Slowbalt,
The way that I like to modify the guns is as follows:
1.Remove the front sight assembly and install a Triangular handguard retainer. This allows you to use either the old triangular handguards, which would be correct for these rifles, or the newer round A2 type.
2. Install new A2 Pistol grip.
3. Tap out the screw thread in the butt stock tube 1/4 28, then you can install a longer butt stock.
I do not recommend installing a carbine stock as the threads are way to different and the cross threading of the english tube to the metric lower reciever will be a pain to get in and not possible to get out!!
If you wish to install a U.S style barrel, you will have to use the metric barrel nut. If you can get the front sight off then you can get the barrel nut off!!!

Have fun,

Scott

Sorry for the mild hijack, but I need to vent. Does no one leave the CQ 311 as is? I have never seen a second-hand 311 with the original furniture on it. Of course, we all own different guns for different reasons, but to me the only reason to buy a Norc 311 is to have a unique and interesting AR variant, and putting USGI furniture on it completely negates that.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

Battle rifle ...
trust me ...
you are the ONLY one in the entire known world who actually likes the CQ311 plastic.
I could not even give mine away ...
[;{)

PS: If you want to see how far a Norc can be tweaked, PM me with an email
address and i'll send some pics. Talk about you interesting varients ...

EDIT : What I really wanted to install was A1 furniture, I read somewhere A2 and believed it was it. My bad. So are they bolt-on ??? Fitting needed ?? Threading incompatibility?

P.S. Lazerus your toys are really SHARP ;)

One more EDIT : Just found a furniture kit on Wolverine's website. Price seems right, for genuine Armalite parts. Anyone installed this ( A2 )??

P.S. My question about A1 remains valid.

out of the topic, i understand that there is a forward assistant in CQ311. assuming you are left handed. when you shoot the rifle, will the case hit the assistant and got deflected so that it won't be hitting you in the face?
