Is this going to be practical for plinking etc..? on a 10/22 or are they to heavy to be any fun for the kids, wife, Me . My Remmington 700 weighs in at 8+ lbs, but has a 26inch barrel and I don't go plinking off hand, for a few hours, (well maybe the odd time). So are bull barrels still practical for general use? and yes I am in good shape, No I don't have little wimpy arms. Thanks for your thoughts.
 
Even with a 20" bull barrel I would not consider it a heavy gun. With a 16" it's even lighter. My 20" bull shoots very comfortably offhand.
 
I take my Ruger 10/22T hunting, not a big deal. If the weight is well balanced then you should have an issue, if it is nose heavy then you will get tired.

For bush plinking you can always go in the seated position don't need to stay offhand the entire time.
 
Thanks, for the reply's. sounds like weight is not going to be an issue I was thinking 18 inchs for barrel length, and maybe the Revolution Trail blaser for a stock. Thanks again guy's, just sorta gettin started here on GunNutz, and puttin things together in my head first.
 
18" sounds good :). As sillymike mentioned the stock will play a bigger role in determining the balance of the gun.

The main gun I use for offhand shooting is a feinwerkbayu 2700 and this has a barrel diameter of more than .920mm and the overall gun weight is close to 14lbs or so and it balances very nicely and doesn't get tiring to shoot. Than again it has a hooked but plate and the cost of the stock alone would cost about twice what most customized 10/22's cost :D
