Here's a question, does anyone use a off the shelf work bench modified into a reloading bench?

with everything mounted down?

I used to have my press mounted to a job mate with an extra layer of 3/4" plywood on top. Worked fine, easy to move around, sit in front of tv, etc. I just kept my foot on the step to keep it from shifting around while I loaded. A sturdy bench is better though.

I have been using that bench for the last few months. I bought mine on sale, I don't know if I'd pay full price.

You need to make sure it's secured to a wall and weighted down a bit. If your floor is uneven you'll have to find adjustable sliders for the feet - they don't seem to have any that fit at Canadian tire or Rona.

As noted above, the table top needs to be reinforced. The storage and pegboard is a nice feature.

I just found a used work bench from kijiji for 25 bucks. Slide drawer, peg board, etc. I will be reinforcing the table top with plywood. Gotta love those moving sales.

In their latest flyer, they were showing a wooden work bench for $99 starting Friday (no rainchecks) but I cannot locate it on the website. Looks like it might be decent for reloading.

They work good, I have it's cousin with 2 drawers side by side and a lower full width shelf... Stick a few hundred pounds of ammo on the bottom and it's pretty solid.

They are kinda flimsy but will work. I looked at a few of them before and ended up building one at my old house with some Simpson strong-ties and wood.

When I moved to the new place my FIL gave me a bunch of Dexion and I built a couple benches out of that with some melamine sheets for table tops. Works well.

I would have got one of those if I had more space. Be patient, they regularly go on sale for much reduced prices.

I found a thing of similar construction but much smaller, really just a stand for a power tool, but I can roll it away into my storeroom on its two wheels and it's stable enough with all the weight of the the gear on it, as Hotwheels81 said in post #6.

this is what i use for now ... just recently started reloading for 22-250 and works great .. right height and solid enough ... will build one soon but does the job for now. And no it not always that tidy!!!

I have one of the Craftsman benches and it works well enough with some extra plywood bolted down on the top. I should attach it to the wall for some extra stability.

That will work but the price is too high. If you had a princess auto near you I would recommend looking at them. You should be able to find something of less than half of the price CTC wants.

I use a home built 2x4 and plywood setup for my benches.

The cheaper "Jobmate" version does not have drawers but regularly goes on sale for $50. I ditched the floating particle board top (actually, I just laid it on top of the lower shelf for additional support). For the top I cut a couple of pieces of 3/4" mdf, doubled them up, and screwed them on from the bottom through the support rails.

Never, never, never buy anything at Canadian Tire at regular price. The max you will wait is 3 weeks.

OK, I got a Pic of the one on sale this week. It is a one time deal according to customer service. Would something like this work?

58.5 x 24.5 x 32 / $99

They have something very similar in Reno Depot, the legs are like match sticks and it was moving all over, I suppose you could use it but i wouldn't.
