well - i'm back.
It was a bit of a strange year up there - the season is waaay late. The weather was so warm i never put my gloves on once. :shock: We got an opportunity at a big one, but an ammo failure ruined it and the big guy got away. The weather had just turned when i left yesterday morning, and the first fresh sign we'd seen was spotted as they moved in. We spent the night calling them into the area, and we'd pretty much cornered a few bulls when i had to go.
I'd expected the rest of the team to pick up at least one or two moose before friday, but sadly a death in the family for one of our guys will likely cut things short. The rcmp should have caught up with him and alerted him by now, and i suspect they're breaking camp even as we speak.

A damn shame, on all kinds of levels. We worked very hard to bring 'em in and get an opportunity, but the fates were against us. (i know - some of you guys walk 10 miles thru the bush and think nothing of it - but i'm a desk jockey and that's a lot of walking for me

)
The good news is two more cgn'ers are going to the same spot on saturday, and i'll give 'em all the intel they need to get a good one. But the weather was just too damn warm, and the migration is about a week and a half late this year. It should have been full on when i got there - it was just starting when i left.
Ah well. If it were guaranteed we'd call it 'shopping'

I did bring back a massive number of rainbow trout, a bunch of grouse, and some good stories.

but the fates were against us this time. If they didn't get the bull we were tracking last night - they'll have to strike camp this morning when he gets the news and boogie back asap.
