Official CanadianGunnutz 20th Anniversary

Copy gun.post, the search is is excellent as is posting ads

We are trying to make things simpler to users BUT we need to have some expectations:

CGN is more like a multi-tool, classified site is one of the tools. The back end of a forum is vastly more complex than a "post and delete" classified site. The content of "classified sites" are disposable, but Forum like CGN and Reddits have to retain a lot of materials. We are like a library, and have to keep a lot of things around to be useful to members. The library gets bigger and bigger over time, versus a classified site constantly has turn over.

And also a lot of weird restrictions in the current format will be done with, as it will be running on a more efficient backbone.

As a member for around 16 yrs., I still feel it's probably the best Canadian site I've ever seen. I've recommended it to many shooters I've encountered and never had one come back at me with a negative comment about the site. I love the work you've done, and continue to do, on behalf of the firearms community in this country.

We are going to open up the entire full history for people to search once 2.0 is up. Efficient software means pictures posting will be more and easier. It will also be responsive design, automatic adjusted for your device screen size. There is no more need to manually pick "mobile style".

Is 2.0 gonna have a better ignore system. Or will it be the same as putting finger in your ear and going lalalah?

20 years? OMG.

Is there an Order of Canada application that we could submit to the Government of Canada for the outstanding work created by all members of this forum...with several exceptions....

And especially to the creator's, moderator's, and the retailers who must be running on some pretty tight business margins these days.

Hmm. this might be fun.

Congratulations and many thanks to greentips and to all of the terrific CGN members! I joined 2005 and have been around for nearly all of the 20 years. All in all, CGN has been the best thing to have happened to firearms owners and users over those two decades since can started. The EE has been absolutely wonderful especially for target shooters who live far from dealers and other sport shooters. I feel that I have friends in many parts of this big country. Thanks again to you all.
Bluebell. I’m trying to get ahold of you for an EE item. Says I can’t send you messages for some reason and can’t see your profile to message you at all. I hope to connect and make a sale. Please inbox me if you can.

CGN has been a great learning resource for me and many others thanks to the members and all of those who operate and oversee the CGN forum, thanks

**It is today.**

The official and verifiable 20th anniversary is coming up this March of the year. Unofficially the somewhat murky 20th anniversary is somewhere last year or even the year before.

Interesting fact - of the 8000 people who joined in the first year, 20% of them are still active today. This is remarkable for a span of 20 years! Thank you to all members, businesses and moderators who make this happen!

With the fantastic support of businesses, members ( especially team members!) and the obviously inevitable fall of Liberals in 2025, it is decided that we will invest on overhauling the entire CGN website and the underlying forum application. We are hoping to see this in 2H 2024 - but like anything in the firearms industry and software development it is always delayed for 2 more weeks perpetually so please do not hold your breath while getting excited.
Happy 20th Anniversary CGN!!!
